Lmao this team would have been crippled right now with that deal
Anisimov would've saved us.

I don't really believe the asking price for Yakupov is as steep as many around these parts like to think. Too many factors at play with the KHL and his coach-ability/defensive ability or there lack of.
Getting back to the conversation from this morning.
When did Stamkos struggle?

Boston had Seguin playing out of position. The kid is a natural center and Boston had him at right wing. Boston has two really good centers. In Seguin's rookie year,Claude Julien gave him a tough time about being a complete player. Dallas Eakins is trying to do the same thing. Boston got mad at Seguin for not playing well in the playoffs and they didn't like his off the ice lifestyle.
I really do believe MDZ + pick/prospect will get it done
I doubt that. It'd probably be more along the lines of MDZ + 1st round pick + prospect. Unless they really, really like Del Zotto.
So, Washington needs a LD.
Their fans seem to be willing to move Marcus Johansson.
Moore or MDZ for Johansson?
Sather: "Hey Mac, so how much for that kid. Yakulov or whatever?"
MacTavish: "His name is Nail Yakupov and he is a former 1st overall draft pick with tons of potential."
Sather: "Yeah that's what I said, Radulov. But cool, 1st overall he sounds good he must have like 40 points so far this season. Leading your team. With all the points..."
MacTavish: "He has 3 points."
Sather: "THREE POINTS?! Jesus man, let me start packing Lundqvist's bags right now."
MacTavish: "...He's got a high ceiling and great skillset-"
Sather: "I'll give you Michael Del Zotto."
MacTavish: "He's worth way more than that and yo know it."
Sather: "..."
MacTavish: "Glen?"
Sather: "Yeah I'm here Mac, just can't hear you through all the goal horns Yakupov's setting off. I'll throw in a 3rd."
MacTavish: "I can't do tha-"
Sather: "Mac..."
MacTavish: "Fine."
Switch some names around and by god I think we've finally unearthed the transcript of the Gomez tradeSather: "Hey Mac, so how much for that kid. Yakulov or whatever?"

I stand by the MDZ + Kristo + MSC package.
- They need defense and Howson has always liked MDZ. He can play LD - where he is a significantly better player - in Edmonton.
- Kristo is arguably the team's best prospect not playing in the NHL and plays the same position (RW) as the player being traded.
- MSC is a 2nd (3rd?) tier prospect, but has appeal as a long-term sleeper and has the Edmonton connection (played for the Oil Kings).
I love Johansson, but he's redundant. Another small play creator with no finish (1 goal, 11 assists). The Rangers need a sniper. Not even an elite one. Just someone who can beat the goalie 1-on-1.
