Callahan on the 3rd is great RW depth. It shouldn't be an issue. The top teams in this league have depth. AV likes to spread the wealth anyway.

Kreider--Stepan--Nash
Hagelin--Brassard--Yukapov
Zuccarello--Richards--Callahan

Toughness is missing....

Toughness in what sense? If you're talking about a bruiser then yea, we don't really have that consistently. Callahan hits everything and Kreider is starting to use his body more.

But every single one of those players can take a hit to make a play. Each line has a catalyst on it, I think that would be quite nice actually.

I know its BS but who is AVs favorite offensive player? Kessler?

Little bit of both. Outside of Callahan and maybe Nash, who's willing to drop the gloves? Outside of that,on paper, it is a good group of forwards. There's a little bit of everything.

And I want 1 million dollars. Seriously, he don't want Boyle? :sarcasm:

Isn't the only type of move we can make is one that will shed salary? Yak is on an ELC but how would we even resign him after the new (hopefully) Hank deal this offseason? Richards is probably going to get waived but we also have other bodies to sign, no?

This is outrageous, I don't know if everyone involved would like it, I don't really know how well the values may match up, but I personally like where it would leave us and I feel the other teams could be happy with it as well. I only thought about it since the EDM rumors started floating around.

Girardi and MDZ for
Yakupov and J. Schultz

Zuccarello for
Nikita Nikitin.

I think it could work out, but feel free to tear me apart.

Del Zotto for Daniel Sedin. Deal.

Yakupov wouldn't have to be re-signed until 2015. Henrik already makes 6.8 per. Even if the Rangers pay him 9 mil per season its only raising his cap hit by 2.2 mil which is easily covered by a Richards buyout, or by not re-signing Pyatt and Pouliot.

I don't think Columbus would be interested in that deal. I know Nikitin is supposedly available for depth scoring, but they have plenty of small scoring wingers bouncing around their organization as it is.

As far as the Edmonton deal, the value in a vacuum isn't bad for the Rangers if they're willing to take an immediate step back. To me, that's a rebuilding kind of trade. For Edmonton, it basically requires that they get Girardi with a new contract in place. Otherwise they lose the trade big time.

On the day after the Rangers 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, and the day before their first showdown this season with the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday night at The Garden, Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault told reporters that he is still in the process of evaluating his roster. In addition Vigneault pointed out that he has a date in his mind regarding how to move forward with his personnel--both in New York and in the minor leagues at Hartford.

"I have given myself the latitude in my mind--and without sharing with you---a certain number of games to sort out here what I have," stated Vigneault. "I have spoken to (Rangers management and Hartford coaches) to find out what would be the other options."

The head coach would not divulge if this "deadline" of sorts is approaching or which players are most affected by this ongoing evaluation, but he did make it clear that a certain status quo is not acceptable, even if the Rangers have won three of their last four games and have been playing much bettter hockey of late.

The Rangers also trying to determine how to move forward with Miller. 3rd or 4th line in NY or 20 minutes in the AHL. The Rangers are going to need Miller at center. Brassard isn't the answer. Richards isn't the answer either. Stick Miller in the AHL. Let him develop his game.

AV doesn't sound thrilled with Brassard either.

On Brassard’s performance this season (note he was dropped to the fourth line at today’s practice): “So far I think he has shown a little bit of inconsistency in his overall play. In some moments you see signs of top-end skill, and in some other moments you see signs of top-end skill not executed the way you’re supposed to, like on the first goal last night. He clearly has the puck, no pressure, can skate it and make an easy ** pass. For whatever reason, he doesn’t execute the play that needs to be executed at that time with the puck so we need to get that part of his game, not just in our end, but in both ends, we need to get that in order and if we do that, he’s a good skilled player that has, in my estimation a lot to bring to the table.”

On whether Brassard puts a lot of pressure on himself: “I would say yes, he obviously came here last year and had the best moments of his young career so far. Sometimes, you expect to be able to step right back in and have those same moments. A career is a process, there’s some situations where games or seasons or segments that permit you to improve and become better and I’m hoping that this is one of those segments or time frame that is going to make Brass into a more complete hockey player.”

Time for the overhaul to begin. Not anymore stupid 4 for 1 deals like the Nash deal. Then Sather decides to trade Gaborik for 3 pieces. Status quo.

Oh no, Brassard in chateau bow wow... How long before his agent Allan Walsh blames it on Arniel again?

So it's basically Girardi for Yakupov and Schultz for MDZ? You'll need to add at least our 1st to swap the 2012 1st overall pick for a pending UFA (Girardi) imo. And I don't understand why Oilers want to swap Schultz for MDZ either, but who knows. I do that trade in a heartbeat though. And give them our first 2015 if Yakupov play +70 games, just to be nice.

He's been terrible. It's a shame, I thought was one of the few Rangers who had a decent preseason and was poised to put it all together.

Burrows is 32. First year of a four year contract. $4.5M cap hit. Pass. The Rangers aren't getting Kesler. Del Zotto might cry having to play for Tortorella and Sullivan again.

Yeah...the Canucks already have four top 4 d-men (possibly 5 if you consider how well Tanev has played), and we're lacking a top 6 forward right now.

Brassard also started the season playing well. If Pouilot could shoot the puck Brassard would have had 4 additional assists in the first 3 games. But lately he's been a mess.
