I agree - the current lineup is not talented enough to win a Stanley Cup. We have 3 prime years with Hank remaining... maybe 4. It will be interesting to see how the next month progresses. If the Rangers are able to win a lot of games, it will be positive in that the team will be "gelling" towards a playoff spot. Unfortunately, we will lose an opportunity to trade assets like Girardi and DZ who I believe are not suited for AV's system longterm.
Obviously the Rangers issue for years has been more Offense related than Defensive personnel.
I am confident that over the next few years there are several prospects in Hartford (Kristo, Lindberg, Fast, Yogan) that will upgrade the Rangers current 3rd and 4th line players with respect to offensive production. Keep Dom Moore as 4C. Let Hagelin and Callahan find more natural roles to add more impact from 3rd line.
The key to Rangers being a legit team is developing a 2nd line and 1C. 1C will take a great pick or big trade. But Girardi and DZ could be used to gain 1st/2nds + prospects to give Rangers opportunity to find a true 2nd line unit over next 2-3 years.

Thats true. If Schneider can get a 9th pick, imagine what a guy like Staal could get
Well you're thinking about it from vancouvers perspective I'm looking at it from new jerseys where they got a good goalie for just a draft pick. I've been saying how much I want eberle on this team. I wonder if we have a top 10 pick if that can get us eberle even if we have to add alittle something

I agree with clowe. Injuries have made staals value plummet, I see him bolting for Carolina knowing he won't command much contract wise I'm sure he'll go play with his brothers. In 2 years we'll have to rebuild our D completely

Edmonton has to move one of hall RNH eberle yak soon. They need Defense and a real goalie on the worst way. I think eberle is the next big young player to be moved like bobby Ryan loui erikkson Tyler seguin. Eberle fits that mold IMO

I think there's a bigger market for eberle. Yak they should give another year or 2 to see what he is capable of unless you get an offer that blows you away

A lot of complaining about the fans wanting the team to lose but if you look at the past Stanley Cup winners:
2008: Detroit are the only ones that haven't had a high draft pick in a while
2009 Pittsburgh: drafted Crosby after the lockout first overall, they also drafted Malkin 2nd in 04
2010 and 2013: Chicago: Toews 3rd overall in 2006, Patrick Kane was 1st overall in 2007
2011 Bruins: While the season that they had the 5th overall pick they chose Phil Kessel who ended up being traded for another top pick in Tyler Seguin who was on the team
2012 LA Kings: Got Doughty with the 2nd overall pick in 2008 and Kopitar with the 11th overall pick in 2005
While I do love the playoffs and the Rangers being in the playoffs I would not particularly mind trading some people like MDZ, Girardi, and Nash for some picks that could make the team better in the long run.
