You call Kane an unproven sniper and then advocate using draft pics to fix our team. There is nothing more unproven than a draft pic. You act as if draft pics are a sure thing, which is the exact opposite of the truth.

Also, Kane is no sniper. He is a guy that can do it all including make his own offense and he's still so young.

Kane is far more proven than a guy who has never played a game. I understand you don't want him because of report personality issues but what you are saying is inaccurate.

Kane would mature and grow with Stepan, macD, and our other staters. Perfect fit IMO.

Kane is also a forward that can fight when he has too.. yea i know fans would rather have him on the ice but if he brings life and emotion to this team that is also a big need.. emotion matters in sports. cant have a team of emotionless players who dont have that emotion when they step on the ice..

That's at the very least too.

He might even have to add in Hagelin, Talbot, and McDonough. But i'm uncertain. I don't have a good sense of demand and negotiation tactics.

I don't think you have a good sense of anything after reading your past couple posts

At 22 years old Kane already has a 30 goal season under his belt, and 17G in 48 games after the lockout. He's a little down this season but you can't deny the overall package his game brings and the potential to improve. Im surprised many people are down on him. I think some people have this image in their head of a perfect flawless player and only they can wear the sweater. A 1st rounder as the principle piece? Sign me up.

Why are we advocating trading a winger that's taken milestone steps this season, and is on a 50p+ (could go higher if the team finds the groove) track despite the team sucking the big one, for Kane ? bernmeister hates short people

where is all this kane debate coming from? is there any legitimate rumor or rumors connecting him to nyr, or is this just the latest argument on these boards in a time of crisis

I like Kane and wouldn't oppose getting him in a deal at a reasonable price. I still think we have a much bigger need at center, though. We're better off playing Richards on the wing and he's probably gone after this season so we need a 2C anyway. Stastny might fit the bill in the offseason and Stepan/Statsny would give us two pretty good top 6 centers. He'll probably be massively overpaid but that's the nature of the beast with free agency.

Any teams have extra 1st rounders in the 2014 draft?

Buffalo might - depends on if the Islanders stay in the bottom-10, and whether not not they want to keep the pick if it is top 10.

Anaheim has their first rounder and Ottawa's from the Ryan trade.

There are also 29 picks in the first round this year, as opposed to 30.

Extra draft pick slightly more valuable than in past years.

I remember when Staal for B. Ryan straight up was considered fair value.

God that hurts now

Give up multiple pieces for someone else's star. It's the Ranger way. :shakehead

Look, Kane is a great player, but this team is in no position to be giving up a large package in exchange for one guy. We're staring a top-5 pick in the face, with some very good offensive talent available in this draft. The gap between the high end talent in the draft and being an NHLer isn't what it once was. Kids make the jump every year. 7 of the 2013 top-10 have seen NHL ice this season.

There's no magic bullet here. Figure out what kind of team we want to be, then move out the guys that don't fit. Bring in ones that will fit. Draft players that will fit. This isn't going to be a situation where the team is horrible, a trade is made, and suddenly the team is great.

I thought anything could happen once you're in?

Honestly, I hope Sather realizes that this team needs more help than a rental at the deadline.
