Senators are in free fall and losing games like it's their jobs. Defense is in absolute shambles, pathetic.

They might be a little more desperate for help than they seem.
 
Take it with a grain of salt but according to "insider" info on our board, the deal is Michalek and Gryba for MDZ and either Pyatt or Dorsett to even out the cap hit. Ottawa saves about 2 Million in real money which they need to do on their budget. Could just be someone blowing smoke though?

Losing Dorsett would actually really hurt since he's the only one on this team that is willing to drop the gloves.

I'd do the trade with Pyatt though. Del Zotto isn't consistent. We need more scoring. I'm ok with swapping Staal and Del Zotto and keeping in Moore and Falk.
 
It's kinda fun some people wants Rozi back, remember the last time he played for the blue shirts and got booed out every time he got the puck.
He had a rough time and sure has risen ever since, still can't see him as a signing.

Would like to some secondary scorer and a defender who puts up numbers.

That would be very, very bad for us. Even if it was Pyatt instead of Dorsett.
 
I could see something close to that happening in a DZ trade. Rangers get there RHD back, and a scorer. Michalek has struggled, but he's 29, and a UFA at years end.

Wonder if we could swap Neil for Michalek....

"Scorer" is a very generous term for Michalek. Way out of his best days. Borderline useless player at this point. I'd kill someone if that was what we got for DZ. Young scorer, for ****s sake. No garbage.

Neil has no desire to play in NY. We're one of the teams in his no trade clause and he took less money than we were offering to stay in Ottawa. We also shouldn't be obtaining any more aging enforcers. We need to acquire a young guy with neil type potential.

remember when Prucha was dealt for Morris.. it will be the same type of deal sadly.. it will be Del Zotto for an UFA forward or UFA dman

Then don't trade him. Young PMD are worth their weight in gold, and a garbage player like Alex Goligoski set somewhat of a precedent of what those players are worth. Lately DZ has been much better, anyway.

Zack Smith + Gryba + Mid pick gets it done for me, sorta.

Then we don't trade him. It's that simple. He's a 23 year old dman who is capable of playing in the top 4 and putting up 40 points. Regardless of his struggles this year, he still has significant value.
