and for all of del zottos struggles last year he was still a plus player that played over 23 minutes a night and put up 21 points in 46 games.

Then don't trade him. Young PMD are worth their weight in gold, and a garbage player like Alex Goligoski set somewhat of a precedent of what those players are worth. Lately DZ has been much better, anyway.

Zack Smith + Gryba + Mid pick gets it done for me, sorta.

I'd personally take the hundreds of pounds of gold

Lets put it this way, I want Girardi gone significantly more than DZ gone.

Yeah, I'd rather not trade Del Zotto if Michalek and Gryba is the return. That's not a trade that makes the team significantly better and may even make it worse. Michalek is a streaky goal-scorer and has had serious knee problems in the past year.

Thank you. Not to mention there are 29 GMs in the league that KNOW the Rangers are shopping him.

You have an Xbox One. I know you're dying to sell it, to the point where you don't even want to keep it. Am I going to pay full retail? Nah.

If there are 10 other people waiting behind you to buy one, then I don't really have to worry about you and your pride, do I? It goes both ways. Sometimes you find a bargain, other times you get nothing and watch someone else walk away with what you needed.

Ultimately it's going to end up somewhere between "crap" and someone posting that dumb picture of Sather as a magician. I have a very, very hard time believing that the team is going to give up on a 23 y/o PMD who has had quite a bit of success on this level and sell him off for whatever they can get.

We see a breaking down Michalek, Sather sees a scoring winger two years removed from a 60 point season. For a legitimate contender it's not the worst trade, definitely a gamble. For this Rangers team, it makes absolutely no sense.

If for some god awful reason we get Michalek for DZ I'd want Michalek traded at the deadline.

If that is the deal for MDZ, I'm flying all the way from Atlanta to place a flaming poo bag outside Sather's office door. Michalek and Gryba for MDZ and Pyatt is terrible for us, but something could be worked out with a little tweaking. I'd do:

MDZ ($2.55M, 2014 RFA)
Pyatt ($1.55M, 2014 UFA)

for

Michalek (up to 50% retained) ($4.33M [~$2.17 w/50% retention], 2014 UFA)
Gryba ($562.5k, 2014 RFA)
Lazar or Ceci

I think that's pretty fair, and the dollars are close if you play with how much OTT retains on Michalek.

i just cannot seeing sather give up del zotto for a guy thats a free agent after the year and has been awful this season.

Sather has just done absolutely nothing right lately and I have no confidence in him going into these supposed trade talks.

Michalek and Gryba for MDZ + would be incredibly awful

And it would be such a typical Sather move. Hmm Michalek. Drafted 6th overall good. 03 pick, another chance to make up for Jessiman. He's a skill guy right? Hmm yea.

Its looking like mdz is another in a long line of failed first round picks. Was he a Gordie Clark selection?

I wouldn't say he is a failure. A failure is someone like Jessiman. Thats a failure.

Del Z turned into a good two way Dman. He has a solid career ahead of him. But, it looks to me he will probably never pan out as a offensive/PPQB Dman.

hes a 20 overall pick that has over 100 points and nearly 300 games played in the NHL before 24 years old. how the **** is he a failed first round pick?

I'd trade both of them. Keep Staal over both. But Staal is a new whipping boy around here - well ****, who isn't.

Maybe it's because he's coming off a significant injury and his play has deteriorated greatly as a result?

Nope, just a whipping boy!
