That’s fair but 50 minutes is a very small sample size but overall. With him on the left they outscored the competition or went even. With him on the right they got outscored. But ultimately he hasn’t spent a ton of time on his off side and has predominantly played his left.
He has had some success on the right side but in a small sample. I’m a little more optimistic but it would be a big change for him or Nurse either way.

I’m pretty excited about Walman, I love a defenceman who can skate and contribute offensively. I think it’ll make a big difference for whichever of the top lines isn’t playing with Bouchard. Too many plays die back there.
This team needs to score more goals, they should be a top five goal scoring team. I think Walman helps there quite a bit. Now let’s see a bit more help up front. Have to think something is going to happen with Skinner, cant have 3 million of wasted cap sitting in the press box, and once Frederic and Kane are back, he has no path to getting into the lineup.

My expectations werent that high to begin with. But Walman has been a better add than I was expecting. I wish he was more of a RD but lets see how he does. I assume we will try him on the right side. Frederic I think fits a need. Hopefully he plays well and we have a chance to resign. I hate using picks on rentals in general, so I like that at least we get 2 seasons out of Walman.
Sounds like a 4C will be a target.
I wouldnt be surprised if theres another trade for a winger.
I still think not upgrading on Pickard with like a Soderblom for example is a miss. I think the team at least needs a different look in the goaltending department.
I'd like to see a bit more creativity though from Bowman before the end of the deadline. Doesnt have to be major but I wouldnt mind like a hockey deal with someone. Clearing some contracts. Trading underpeforming players with another team. Picking up some assets etc Theres a lot of forwards not doing much on this team. The team in general I think maybe needs to have more Max Jones call ups to push some of the complacency out of the forward group. I dont think Brown, Janmark, Arvidsson etc are cutting it. And dont even get me started on players like RNH, who I have traditionally liked but have been getting frustrated with.

I bet Jeff Skinner gets traded. The team went out of its way not to play him, and now we've added two forwards who play his position. It looks like Jones will stick. Of course Frederic will too.
If he waives, there will be a lot of suitors. There isn't much cash left on his deal and he's impending UFA. There are a lot of teams with cap space in the mix for the playoffs, who would love to add.
I'm liking Skinner to Detroit for one of their goalies.

A late 1st for a top 4 Dman with a relatively cheap contract for another year is a nice piece of business by Stan. Essentially a 1st+2nd for 2 years of Walman and hopefully more than a few months of Frederic is pretty solid. Still would like to see some goalie insurance (the upgrade for Skinner just isn't there currently) but a pretty good deadline all things considered IMO.

Rishaug on TSN said we might still be looking for a top 6 winger to play with Draisaitl. That's a shocker to me. Figured we might make one more small move but hopefully we can get something bigger done. Not sure what assets we have left to trade though lol.

I’m actually wondering if Montreal doesn’t make an offer for him, they’re just on the outside looking in and might want some more scoring. Maybe he fits St. Louis’ style of play.

I would think Talbot is the only one they would move. But I’d be ok with that. He does have another year on term though. Not sure we would need that,surely we can fix this mess in the off season. 1.7 mil buyout on the one year because he’s older. Might be a good backup though next season.

Skinner has an NMC. He’d probably waive to get away from Knoblauch and actually get a chance to play, but yet another signing present from Santa Jackson.
