Remove Drai from this team and its a bottom 10 team.

Remove Gretz from the Oilers and one season they had 80pts. Kings with Gretz appreciated considerably in standings. Its off the rails discussion anyway. Shouldn't be doing i but jus replying.

Its ridiculous at this point for anybody to compare McD to Gretz and only people that never watched Gretz doing it.

Its like when X posters just say this D is the best thing since Orr. Its never the case, and only that people didn't see the greats play.

Gretzky would have 0 Cups with the management McDavid has. Same for Mario and Sid and Ovy.

Great value for Trent Frederic lmao. He's an injured 3rd liner playing like a 4th liner this year. We gave up a 2nd rounder for him. We'll be lucky if we get 20 games out of him regular season and playoffs combined.

You do realize that much worse players got much higher returns? You want Kuzmenko for a 3rd instead?

People overstate handedness. Walman has been playing RD since Ceci left. And if he can’t do it we have Kulak. Tampa won a cup with Hedman-McDonagh-Sergachev down the left. There are multiple ways to win.

Sorry not all of us immediately jump to the worst case scenario or use every excuse to bitch and moan about things not going our way.

Weren’t you the one who said Draisaitl would never be a Hart trophy winner? Life’s easy when you’re a cynic who can relentlessly complain and doesn’t have to admit that they’re ever wrong I guess.

I'll watch, but have absolutely zero expectations now.

Other than we will be able to revel in the I told you so about goaltending for a couple more months.

I notice you didn’t include how much each of those teams spent.

In terms of value for money the Oilers come out on top of all of those teams.
 
If you can't land him, then play against him. Rantanen will play tomorrow night already for Dallas they say.

Quite possible the Oilers don't even make the playoffs at this point.
 
It is what it is. Questionable goaltending, puck-moving but averaged defensively D, and some really good talent and grit upfront. Let’s see where this takes us

The glass half full version is that analytically , the Oilers were the best team in the league from October-January. If they can re-capture that level of play, Skinner can play like he did the last two rounds , and our wingers can start finishing, we may have a puncher’s chance of going deep again.

That and they would need another path to the Finals that shelters them from other game breaking talent in the league (so no Colorado, no Vegas, and if we want to actually win the Cup, no Florida please).

And record breaking special teams some how repeating would be nice.
