Phillips and Corvo are our 2nd pairing.

I'm gonna need you guys to think about that for a second.. And then we wonder why we are out of a playoff spot.

Even though Phillips and Corvo played terrific games tonight, those guys should be no where near those roles on a contending team.

Cowen and Wiercioch played bottom pairing minutes and excelled. Phillips and Corvo played number 3 and 4 and excelled but for how long until another huge gaff has MacLean switching partners again?

Top 3 defender is needed and I can see the entire dynamics of our team improving. Will be veryyy tough though.

I think we may play the waiting game until Cowen develops to fill that role.

Or if we deal Spezza we'll add a piece with him to get a couple pieces coming back. Number 2 center and top 4 defender(Kesler+Tanev/Shattenkirk+Berglund) type deals.

Just spit-balling.

Agreed.

Also, today's Ottawa Sun suggests Blues could make TJ Oshie available, which I do not believe. However, if he was available to Ottawa, what about: Spezza, Stone, Gryba & Wikstrand for Oshie, Shattenkirk and Schwartz (rfa).

Logic behind it: St. Louis is a cap team with Steen and Halak to resign next year. Making this type of deal could relieve some of their cap issues next year, while keeping them relatively strong in all positions. Spezza and Backes would be a killer 1-2 tandem, while Stewart, Stone, Tarasenko, etc is no slouch on the RW, and the Blues' strength arguably is their defense, meaning they could afford to trade Shattenkirk for a downgrade in Gryba. And Wikstrand is a coveted Sens prospect.

Likewise, Ottawa gets another power type forward for the top 2, a top 3 defender, and another young prospect at C along with Turris, Zibanejad, Smith, Grant, Lazar, Pageau, etc in Schwartz, who can also play LW.

Is this fair value and realistic?

Thought about it. Maybe Corvo instead of Gryba would make sense. He's offensive minded like Shattenkirk, having a good season and cheap.

Coach MacLean for Mike Keenan! (Can't believe Stache shot hiself in his own foot last nite, by playing Spezza and Michalek in SO. Dumb dumb, dumb dumb)

He was doing the same thing last year (playing Alfredsson in the SO how many times before the guy netted one? something like 10 tries...that's what it seemed like). And he won Coach of the year that year...

I hear what you're saying but I say give everyone a chance. If the team is still this way this time next year he should already be gone by then but for now I say he's still the best coach the team's ever had. Not sure if that's saying anything but everyone deserves some leeway.

Would hate to see him succeed elsewhere.

I like Little but he is basically another conacher.

:amazed:

Have you seen Little's numbers this year? If yes who are his Stamkos and MSL?
Have you seen his career numbers?
Are you aware he's an amazing two-way centre?

Winnipeg doesn't trade Little for Spezza straight up. He is no 'healthy scratch' Conacher

Just spitballing some potential fits:

Dubinsky/Foligno + R Murray + (Atkinson, 1st, ?)
Gallagher + Emelin + Beaulieu/Tinordi
Jones
Larsson + Henrique
Bouwmeester + Schwartz/Stewart/Berglund
Purcell + Hedman
Kadri + Reilly/Gardiner + Kulemin/1st (salary?)
Edler + Horva + or Kesler + Bieksa
Byfuglien ++

The only ones that would be considered is the NJ one, because Larsson is busting hard and Henrique has a horrible contract, the Winnipeg one depending on the plus, and possibly Montreal.

Colombus doesn't trade Murray straight up for Spezza, ditto St. Louis with Bouwmeester. Schwartz >>> Stewart and Berglund so I don't know why you put them into the same boat. Kadri + Rielly is ridiculous overpayment.

Your right, my bad, he's having a good year, didn't know he was doing as well as he has been, guess he's been flying under the rader *wink. Really wish we could get a MSL though. That is who we should be targeting.

I'm baffled by MacLean, on SO and PP player selections. Someone behind the Sens bench should get the boot for PP failure -- maybe Cameron?!

Behind you, look out
Eklund is saying the asking price for ROR is a Dman, prospect and a 2nd rounder.

I would trade Cowen, a prospect and a 2nd in 2015 for ROR.

ROR/Spezza/Zibanejad
MacArthur/Turris/Ryan

Works for me.

O'Reilly is an amazing player. Would gladly give up Cowen + top prospect + 2nd for him.

Colorado would probably want a better defenseman in return though.

Derek Smith is on waivers by Calgary. You guys think he's worth giving a shot here?

Well, I don't really want to trade Spezza and I don't think management especially does either. Gotta negotiate braj

To Philly: Anderson G & Condra RW (add a prospect - Hoff or SDC or Petersson)
To Ott: Wayne Simmons RW

To LA: Conacher LW & JOB C/RW
To Ott: Martin Jones G

Deadline Deal:
To Detroit: Chris Phillips LD (yes, will never happen & Alfie will never leave Ottawa)
To Ottawa: 2nd rd pick

- Philly takes a risk that Anderson can return to last yr's form with a change of scenery.

MacArthur - Spezza - Simmons - Simmons adds grit, toughness & scoring
Michalek - Turris - Ryan
Greening - Zibanejad - Stone
Z. Smith - Grant - Neil/Kassian

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Corvo
Wiercioch - Gryba/Boroweicki

Lehner - Jones

Why are the Sens adding?

Joke?

Cap Floor keeps going up?

Can't keep the team below the cap floor when it keeps going up?

Have you put any thought to this?

Some people can be so judgemental even though they themselves have never proven themselves worthy...of anything.

For the record, I'm not even sure if I've answered your question correctly as it was so vague...barely even made sense.

Philly doesn't need a goalie.

I'm confused.

I thought O'Reilly couldn't be traded this year because of the offer-sheet matching?

I'd be interested, but I doubt that he comes here anyway. Ottawa missed that boat last year. That said we don't need another forward. Our forward group is fine. We need a top 4 defender and better structure.
