Behind you, look out
You do realize that most cup winning teams have more than 1 good goalie right?

If winning a cup is what we want, we need more than 1 good tender. Chicago last season = Crawford and Emery. LA = rode a hot Jonathan Quick the entire season with Bernie in the stands. Boston = Thomas and Rask. Chicago in 09/10 had Huet and Niemi who were both strong. Detroit had Osgoode and Hasek.

Better chance of winning the cup if you have more than 1 good goalie. I want to win a cup, do you?

Emery played 0 playoff games
Bernier played 0 playoff games
Rask played 0 playoff games
Huet played for a playoff total of 19:56
Garon played for a playoff total of 24.20
Hasek had a save % of .888 for the playoffs.

Your argument actually worked against your point.

We're talking about a back up goalie...

Emery with a solid 0 GP in the Hawks cup run. What a difference maker.
Bernier with a insane 29mins of TOI during the Kings playoff run. Ermahgerd.
Rask with a mind boggling 0 GP for the Bruins during their playoff run to the cup. Clutch.
Huet with dat 19mins of ice time for the Hawks on their first cup. Wow.
Hasek played 3.5 games.

Why didn't you bother with Pittsburgh?

Was reading on Senschirp that apparently Spector has a room out that the Islanders are looking at Anderson. Apparently Ottawa has been trying to trade him for a while. What do you think we would be looking at?

Grabner maybe? He appears to be struggling so maybe the Isles would let him go.
Doubt the Isles would trade away any Dmen. Andy MacDonald would be nice though.

I'd love to do that deal, but I doubt the Isles would do that. I would imagine that the Sabres asked about Strome many times in their trade discussions for Vanek.

what would vanek cost. Anderson, Milo, Condra? the deal with buffalo wasnt all that good

Man, adding Grabner would be great. We'd instantly become a faster team.

Here is a legit rumor:

Dreger:
Ottawa is currently in talks with the flyers. I am hearing that they are looking to trade kassian to the flyers for a philly cheesestake.

Ideally I'd want to try and target a defenceman if we are moving Andy, but if that's just not possible (ie: teams who are looking for a goalie only have forwards to spare in a trade), then something around Grabner wouldn't be all that bad.

Adding Grabner would allow us to then shop a guy like Conacher (or a "Conacher+" package) for a defenceman. That, or immediately flip Grabner to another team for the blueliner we so desperately need. Regardless of who we shopped for a defenceman, if we did an Andy-Grabner flip, we'd need to move a forward at some point anyways. Hopefully Kassian, because quite honestly: screw Kassian, but probably also another guy so we can have a roster spot avail for our Bingo Player Du-Jour (Grant/Hoffman/?).

I do like the speed Grabner would bring.

Too bad we cannot afford Vanek.

Don't want Vanek: wouldn't be even close to worth what it would cost us to get him (heck, it cost the Isles a 1st, 2nd and Moulson... for a guy who very easily could walk in 6 months, we're in no position to pay even half of what the Islanders forked over to get him)

murrays would probably be looking at ryan strome

I'd love Strome, but if Snow is actually considering dealing him for a goalie like Anderson, he's about 7 steps closer to "Incompetency Level: Milbury" than I thought.

There's a 0% chance that the Islanders are going to let go of Strome. He's absolutely destroying the AHL right now (not sure why they don't have him up on the roster) and he's easily their best prospect...considering they traded their 1st this year and Vanek likely won't re-sign they're going to need all the help they can get moving forward. If Ottawa wants Strome they'd have to give up more than they'd be willing to, IMO.

If we were a playoff team I would say that Andy is untouchable. Even though we are tanking I still can't see trading him until next season, but the framework of a deal may be coming together. We saw that sort of thing with the year long rumors about Ryan coming to Ottawa.

The big issue with trading Andy now is that our goaltending prospects behind Lehner are not particularly strong at the moment. I think Brassard and Drieger are still at least a couple of years away (if they get there at all), and the thought of Lawson or Hammond playing backup and stepping in if Lehner is injured is just plain scary. In my opinion, we would need to have an established backup coming back to us in a reasonable trade scenario.

We need a good skating, and passing two way D man, and fast before the season is over. Our D sucks and its not going to fix itself.

Our D needs time. We need one top four guy to replace Gonchar's presence, but other then that it's just age and experience that will make our D better.

Pretty much. The problem IMO is that Karlsson and Methot are a great pairing, but Phillip, Corvo, Cowen and Wiercoch are either too old or too inexperienced to be anything more than a bottom pairing. We really need a 3 and 4 defensemen.
