I bet we could get a 1st because of the weak draft class.
Agreed, I think a team like Pittsburgh would easily give up their 1st.

beauchemin(signed as free agent) - lupul, gardiner, pick?
edit: forgot about lebda -> franson
they keep getting players for free. we don't = difference
The difference being they can add salary without any care. While the Sens are desperate to shed salary while being a bottom 5 spender.
No the difference is in order for Ottawa to make a deal, they have to get totally ripped off. In order for Toronto to make a deal, the other team that they deal with has to totally get ripped off. There's no more of a simple way to say it.
Ottawa hasn't gotten completely ripped off since the Havlat trade.
Well Bishop for Cony is looking pretty horrendous so far.
Murray had two options:
A) Take the only serious offer on Bishop
or
B) Let Bishop walk as a free agent
At least Murray got something for a player that was gone soon anyways. This is horrendous for the Oilers, not the Sens.
can't you re-sign the rfa bishop and hold on to him?

"I couldn't have signed (Bishop) to another contract and kept Robin and Craig (Anderson).

Every trade they make is a rip off...the only thing is they also get a good player in the deals that they make which makes it worthwhile. Why can't Ottawa get Lupul, Gardiner and a first for Phillips? Oh yeah because they're not Toronto. They probably wouldn't even get a 2nd rounder for Phillips if they traded him now, and Phillips is better than Beauchemin.

You're wrong, and you should feel bad.
Kessel trade is not a rip off.
Rask for Raycroft...
Leafs trading a 1st(wich SJ used to trade up and select Couture) for Toskala.
They have had good trades recently because they could uncaringly take on a cap dump.
Also, saying Phillips is better than Beachamin is hilarious.
Beauchemin's season high is only slightly better than Phillips, while Phillips (playing for a weaker team) has a FAR BETTER career plus minus, and was drafted/ranked higher than Beauchemin. If Beauchemin winning 1 cup makes him better, than I suppose Chris Kelly is better than Ovechkin? Explain your logic please..........
PHILLIPS IS ALSO HAVING A FAR SUPERIOR SEASON THIS YEAR, AGAIN, ON A WEAKER TEAM. PHILLIPS IS HANDS DOWN BETTER.
every trade OTTAWA makes
How is Rundblad doing? Turris is doing well.
How much are we paying Lee to have surgery on both his knees?
Sure am glad we are paying Heatley 7.5M to be a 4th liner.

As much as we enjoyed Gilroy on the ice.How much are we paying Lee to have surgery on both his knees?

Don't know why you hate the bishop trade.
We traded a mid-2nd round pick for a 23-year old (at the time) 3rd line NHLer... Do you know that only 1/4 of all 2nd round picks even become a regular NHLer?
Not to mention adding Bishop gave us wins, helped lehner and also netted us a 4th round pick that became Lindberg/Harpur (depending on who we would have picked).

Dear Benny ftw and Stempniaksens,
Chris Phillips is better than Francois Beauchemin. Speak now or forever hold your peace.
