Here is my plan on how to turn the senators into a great team.

Trade spezza and michalek and a 2016 first to the capitals for alex ovechkin

Re-sign mac and ryan in the offseason

Tank for mcdavid

Trade greening and a 2016 2nd for zybnek michalek

Trade weircioch and gryba for duncan keith

MacArthur-Mcdavid-Ovechkin

I would take a different approach while still moving the same and a few others players from the Sens.

Trade 1

Jason Spezza, Patrick Wiericioch and Eric Condra for Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien

Trade 2

Option 1: Milan Michalek for Scott Hartnell
Option 2: Milan Michalek for Chis Stewart
Option 3: Milan Michalek and Eric Gryba for Wayne Simmonds

Note: on option 3 I am unsure what we would have to add to Michalek to get Watne Simmonds, but it my include other roster players, prospects or picks

Trade 3

Option 1: Colin Greening for Zack Kassian
Option 2: Colin Greening for Kyle Clifford
Option 3: Cory Conacher for Zack Kassian
Option 4: Cory Conacher for Kyle Clifford

Trade 4

Craig Anderson for a 2015 1st round pick, a young d man/ d prospect and a back up goalie

Neither team does Trade 1 imo but I think it's decent.

I would pull the trigger on options 2 and 3 of Trade 2. I would do Michalek for Hartnell if his contract was cheaper/shorter.

For trade 3, I think I would like Clifford but I don't like Kassian. Would trade either one of Greening/Conacher, ideally Conacher.

Trade 4 I would love, but I don't think anyone would give up that much for Andy right now.

Interesting. Does he E5 it? LOL!

Although I'll give him this, he hasn't come out and pretty much guaranteed a rumor in a long time. He seems to really only post when he has something concrete.

Still though, not expecting something to actually happen until I see it elsewhere.

WAY too much. He's their captain and heart and soul of the offense. He is a multi-tool player and he's only 28. Players like that don't get dealt.

Why do you think that neither team would make the first trade? There have been rumors that the Jets are listening to offers on Kane and willing to move him for a big return and there has been a lot of speculation that Byfuglien could be moved as well.

Then from the Sens side, if we are out of a playoff spot at the trade deadline then there is a strong possibility that we move Spezza. It's just asset management at that point. Aside from that, Condra is likely on the move and Wiercioch will only be moved as part of a package for a big return such as Kane and Byfuglien.

Well there has been some speculation that he could get moved this year as the Rangers aren't performing very well and Callahan has been under producing relative to his contract. He might cost less than you think.
