No. Why? The cap floor is around 59M. We just have to keep our cap number above that. We're currently around 70. If we move Stone and Duchene midseason, we could do it without taking any salary back.If we traded anyone else off the roster this year would we need equal salary coming back?

connor McDavid is head nd shoulders ahead of everyone not named Crosby. so if youre not as good as those two youre not an elite forward?
Why are you taking away MacArthur and Gaborik's cap hits though? Where are they going?Take away Gaborik and macarthur we're at roughly $60.8M cap hit and under 60M in spending or is that not correct.
They're basically in the same boat as Oduya. Their legs aren't there anymore. They can't handle the pace of the NHL at this point in their careers. Can we not sign Bieksa, Or Davidson? Or gorges on D? Bieksa would be a strong leader
I just see Oscar Dansk is on weiver. He could be a good pick
Yeah me tooNo room, imo. I'd love to have Dansk over Condon though.

Yeah, there's no way this team is going to carry 3 goalies all season, and it's highly doubtful that we can trade either Andy or Condon right now.
I'd love to claim him, though.
Claim him and see if he's clearly ahead of one of Condon or Anderson, then waive one of the three. If it's Dansk, he gets reclaimed, if it's one of the others, I guess we have an issue in Belleville.

1st+a good prospect. What do we reckon we’d get for Stone or a Duchene when we inevitably trade them at the deadline?
I’m calling B Prospect and a 4th.
I agree with this. They will likely be the two best players available at the deadline by a wide margin, so as bad as we did on the Karlsson trade, there will be a market for these two. Have any players of their calibre been moved in the last couple years at the deadline?1st+a good prospect.
I get everyone is soured by the Karlsson trade but Duchene & Stone will probably be the two best players available at the deadline. There will be strong demand for them.
I dunno, these are likely players who will need to get paid. I’m expecting SJ quality return e.g. cheap nobodies.1st+a good prospect.

They will be by far the best rentals available and i think a good gm could still get significant value as rentals. With Dorion making the decision though, likely not a great return.I dunno, these are likely players who will need to get paid. I’m expecting SJ quality return e.g. cheap nobodies.

If they're walking anyways, i say we should still deal any of them.Depends on if they are willing to sign with a team acquiring them, or are rentals.
As rentals, I'd expect a 1st, a pretty good but not great prospect, and a 2nd or 3rd round pick, maybe with some conditions that the pick can increase based on re-signing the player or team success.
Basically, the Brassard return is what I'd expect.
I'm not that bullish on selling players right now. Vegas didn't pay all that much for an extended Pacioretty, and STL acquired O'Reilly for a very good prospect, a probably late 1st, a 2021 2nd, and some middle 6 veterans. It'd be like if we gave up Brown or White, Pittsburgh's pick, a 2021 2nd, and Zack Smith for O'Reilly. Would we be all that satisfied getting that value for a signed 26 year old Mark Stone?
