I took a spin by the main board and saw an interesting proposal...I think it was RNH & Schultz for Jones & Gaustad.

Stamkos' contract was the least compromised one to exist for a star player.
He took as much money as possible and term to take him to free agency and a NMC. He gets precisely what he wants. He'll do the same thing again.

You guys gotta remember that the reason Stamkos demands so much money is because he's unhappy and doesn't like it in Tampa.

If he was happy and in an ideal situation, he'd ask for less. Who wouldn't? He's demanding so much because he wants out. He wants to play in Canada. He wants to play in a hockey city.

See? It's not just us that go through it. I would bet that if an offer was made to play here, in a new arena and with mcdavid, he might be inclined to play in Edmonton over Tampa Bay, Florida. Imagine that.

Is it possible to have success with such a young group of defensemen? Nurse, Klefbom, Davidson, Reinhart, Jones. Even with the veteran Sekera, that would have to be the youngest defense in the league. I'm really on the fence regarding a RNH for Jones trade, but I have not seen Jones play enough to have a strong opinion on him. For those who have seen him a lot, is he very physically assertive?

I'm not even doing one-for-one. Jones is sheltered as heck , RNH isn't. Jones is also an RFA.

Jones is actually not having that great of a year, the main board always undervalues our players anyway.

I'd probably do RNH + Fayne (I'd try to get them to take Fayne on instead) for Jones + Hodgson.

That way we can let Schultz walk or trade him as well for whatever and have free cap room in the summer.

My guess is he wouldn't hesitate to move Reinhart for a veteran D or forward. He acquired and traded players in Boston really quickly and Nurse, Klefbom, Jones would all play above him, then I'm sure there would be another veteran plus Sekera, then Davidson to round out the roster.

Yeh every team has those fans. Can paint the whole fan base with the same brush.
Josi is red hot right... toughest minutes and production wise only behind Hall and Drai in Edmonton.
He is also just hitting his prime.

That won't get RNH; let alone Ryjo. Poille's delusional if he thinks Ellis, picks, prospects, Wilson, other pieces will get Ryjo or RNH. Its either Weber, Josi, or Jones that will get the deal done. If not, then the oilers will look elsewhere for Dman rather than getting fleeced.
