I don't think it would be difficult to find a 20 goal scorer ++ for Gaborik, no.

id rather try to deal Gaborik for a top 10 pick... i mean Jordan Staal got the Pens that at the draft...... Sather should deal Gaborik for that type of package at the draft....

The team is trying to win a cup NOW.

Trading Gaborik for magic beans won't help. They need to get NHL quality players out of the trade, if they make the trade.

Would do Greening/Zibanejad/1st for Gabby at the draft.

id do that trade but id try for Cowen. Rangers need some grit on this soft defense :help: id love an Tim Gleason Matt Greene Mark Stuart McQuad Barret Jackman type defenseman at the deadline.. why cant the Rangers have that type of defneseman... this Rangers defense is too weak at clearing the crease, like Folignos goal. he should have been knocked down.. :shakehead

I think Gaborik will be dealt at the draft. Despite the fact that he's carried this teams offense since he arrived, Tortorella just never warmed up to him. The writing is on the wall. However, trading him now only further upsets what little chemistry this team seems to have. The possibility of him finding his game makes him potentially more lethal than anything we're likely to get in trade.

McIlrath. Sauer. Noreau. They have/are trying.

That's duly noted, but more of an indictment of our lack of secondary scoring than anything else.

It's truly disheartening how much Gaborik, and Richards' play have dropped off since Nash joined us. It almost negates the benefits of getting Nash, since we are once again, relying on ONE player to carry the offense, when we now have 3 bonafide top 3 players.

With a shortened season, unless a great deal comes along, we're much better sticking with Gaborik for continuity, and the possibility of him finding his scoring touch, than picking up a 20g scorer hoping he finds chemistry here.

Could Calgary be a good trading partner if they do move Gaborik?

say Gaborik, Bickel, Gilroy for Tanguay, Glencross, Sarich.

obviously only Gaborik is good , the other 2 are fillers. Rangers get 2 good wingers and a 6th D?

To me, it just says that he's one of the best players in the league.

Aside from the last 20 games of the regular season and the playoffs last year, Richards hasn't been all that great since he arrived. I can't blame Nash for that. Unless you want to accuse Nash of stealing Hagelin from Richards, because let's be honest, Hagelin is the 2nd hardest working forward we have. He never quits. He stirs the drink on whatever line he's on.

Nash swiped Gaborik's spot as the primary RW, but Gabby's shot only seems to just now be coming around. He looks tentative and his release is much slower. Certainly lingering effects from the shoulder surgery. I just hope he didn't re-injure it.

There is no single move this team can make which will propel them to the Cup. The answers lie with the players in the room. Unless their key guys play better, they aren't going anywhere.

one of the best scorers (when he's healthy, every other season).

I'm not blaming Nash for anything just simply noting that the drop off of Gaborik and Richards, negates the production of Nash. Hagelin is VG energy player, but he's just barely a top 6 player right now. His game lacks dimension, and he still can't finish very well... yet.

true, but they can/should bring in an energy player that can upset the flow of a game. Time and time again we prove the obvious. We need an Ott, or Neil, Avery type player on this roster.

The guy has 15 points in his last 18 games. I don't care if he isn't a stellar finisher, he creates offense on almost every shift because of his speed and passing ability. Not exactly sure what else he can do to prove himself as a top-six winger at this point.

he's been hot as of late, but it's his 2nd year in the league, and i'm not ready to place full confidence that he'll keep this up consistently.

Hagelin has an unlimited tank of energy it seems. His speed and hockey IQ are VERY good. He creates and the game has slowed down for him.

He is a top-6 forward, without a doubt.

What if the next big thing isn't a thing at all?

It's lots of things, all wakening up.....

This Brad Richards made $20M in one calendar year. Pro-rated $4M salary this season. He is owed $33M over the next 4 years. Gaborik is coming off shoulder surgery and is playing a different position. You can give him a benefit of the doubt but he needs to start producing too. Richards has no excuse. Sather got a top 6/9 forward at the time in Higgins plus McDonagh for Gomez with 5 years left on his contract. Sather should be able to get a top young player as part of the deal for Gaborik. It won't be easy with the cap set at $64.3M and Gaborik having a $7.5M cap hit. Unless this a Percy Harvin and Darrelle Revis deal where Harvin is worth more than Revis because Seattle can franchise Harvin while Revis can't be franchised so its a 1 year deal if no contract extension is signed. MTL had a ton of cap space that summer and they had Higgins in the deal. Higgins signed a 1 year deal worth $2.25M with the Rangers. Sather will need to take back a roster player.

Agreed. No major moves needed, improvement and some depth is what we need.

my two cents..

i think the rangers year was last year to win it all. richards had a chance to make a difference in game 6 and didnt show up. hes old now 1979 born this game is being runned by kids born in the 90s guys stamkos and seguin to name a few. the leader of the rangers is worn out and last year was his peak. he is in decline. that goal by adam henrique was truly destructive and now it could take years just to get to the final four again. rangers need a new core. nash is a good piece to keep but richards needs to go.. who would take that crappy contract?( once again done by slats) i guess buy him out and try hard to rubuild. dont forget lundqvist isnt spring chicken either and then how do we replace him? just my two cents...

Nashville and Ottawa can offer us very enticing packages back for Gaborik. I would be very ok with either one of them.

Why are we talking about replacing Hank exactly?

30 is the new 60.

we just called up Michael Haley. he is that type of player.. although he shouldnt play with Stepan and Callahan, he looked good there. i would give that line a bit more time together, maybe they be the Rangers energy line...
