I don't like 6 for 6 at all. I have a feeling Sather's options are limited. Maybe what we are looking at is Callahan stays and walks in July. If you are looking for a positive, the Rangers would at least have some cap flexibility with Callahan and (maybe) Richards off the books.

I think that's very unlikely they can't find any value in a trade.

If they can't though, hold on to him and let him walk as a UFA.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I've got to believe you can get a better return for Callahan than what Clowe garnered SJ, but even if the Clowe offer is the best you can get - take it. I'd rather a 2nd, 3rd and a conditional 5th/2nd than the 5x$6MM offer that was reported last week, much less 6x$6MM.

5x$5MM is the most I think he's worth - and even that deal is inappropriate for the Rangers with Nash and MZA on the roster and plenty of RW depth in the minors. I'd much rather take those dollars and use them to sign MZA to a long-term deal.
