I think Sather is focused on bringing in St. Louis, could be wrong, but when the opportunity presents itself to change the dynamics of your top six with a St. Louis type player, you explore all your options to get it done. It's not as simple as a 1
for 1, could involve multiple teams and multiple players. Rangers need to find the right dance partners, not only for themselves, but for Tampa. Just hoping they find a way to get it done without having to give up to much.. Again, just my opinion..

I'm still riding on this scenario. Since the suggestion of a three-team trade a few days ago it seemed to make the most sense in the context of the situation, and realistically the only way the deal happens as originally suggested.

Either way I think failing to add MSL in a reasonable manner is a missed opportunity. Sather only has to make a few right moves to put this team in a much better position down the stretch. He doesn't even have to sell the farm to do it either, it would seem.

I'm not holding my breath however.

I'll say this. If Callahan shows today that he's still the biggest Flyer-killer we have, it's hard for me to say I want to move him because they are looking more and more like the 1st round matchup.

Sorry, but I'm not content making it through the 1st round.

Im not asking about that I'm basically saying "Dagoon said sather was going to put out a massive effort on the phones last night to get a deal done." There hasn't been a single update since then. Kinda sucky to leave everyone hanging and not even tell us that there is no other update. Maybe it was just a good troll

I would much rather prefer to have MSL for the next 3 years than Callahan, kristo and a 3rd if that's what it took. That said I don't think AV is speaking out of any position of knowledge just optimism

C'mon, Ail... Only do that IF (more like when) you hear the terms. I'd love to re-sign Cally. I think all Rangers fans would, but we'd hate to do it at anything close to G's deal. I won't toss my cookies until I hear it ends up being north of 5x30. When confirmed that it's announced at 5x35 or 6x39 or 7x42, then you can puke away.

The Rangers dont make moves for the sake of making them. They make moves to improve the team. There is no move for them to make to make them better than Pittsburgh or Boston because the only way they beat those teams is if Lundqvist plays like a Vezina winner.

If there is a player Sather feels will make the team better and the cost is reasonable, its not a reactionary move in order to counter what other teams do.

Outside of what Smith did between 1995 and 1997 to match up with the size of New Jersey and Philly, when has this team ever made moves based off another teams' moves?

Really? I think 5 years and $30 million for Cally would be a fantastic and team-friendly deal that the Rangers would take in a heartbeat. Another year or another dollar over it and I'd walk away though...

There is no way Callahan takes 5x30, or anywhere near it. He was asking almost 50 mil.
