Ordinarily I'd agree it's pretty standard,if no deal in place, you play your players. You need them;
this is different regarding Cally; he's not only injury prone, but it's late in the year, 20 games left.
A 4-6 week ding and we - easily - could never see him again AND get zilch for him. Unacceptable.
These negotiations have not gone well, as I alluded to.
If he got hurt, missed the playoffs, and hits the market, I dont think there's a chance he comes back anyway. Bad negotiations are like bad arbitration cases. The sting doesnt ever seem to go away.
So if he blocks a shot or takes a hit or has a fight and goes down, as he already has this season, misses 3-6 weeks, and the Rangers get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs (not like, out of the realm), he may make it back for a few games or not.
But the next time you see him, he'd be one very rich Sabre.
And the Rangers will have nothing to show for him. No good.
