don't blame Torts, what happened two years ago when Kesler finished with 49 points when he played under AV?

Guess you missed that little injury he sustained in the 2011 playoffs.

Its not like Kesler can do anything else besides score right?

Torts is overusing him. He should be playing 17-18 mins a night, especially coming off his injuries.

Love the stat watching homers who dont watch a lick of WC hockey, click hockey reference a couple of times a day and try to discredit one of the best all-around forwards in the game.

I dont care how good his overall game is, if he can't put up the points needed to help this team.. see Ryan Callahan.

As someone who lives in the Canucks market and watches Kesler a lot, can I say he's declining?

All I know is, I haven't read this much since high school. I'm tired of all this he said, she said stuff. Just trade Cally already. Give Dan what he wants and swing a lesser deal AT DEADLINE.

just wanna win tonight........and let everything play out the way Rather deems fit. Don't EFF it up Slats.

The more I think about it, the more I want to trade Girardi if a guy like Vatanen is coming back.

McDonagh is such a great shutdown d-man, we don't need another one to go along with him. Same with Staal. Would rather get some offensive-minded d-men there to bring balance.

Ordinarily I'd agree it's pretty standard,if no deal in place, you play your players. You need them;

this is different regarding Cally; he's not only injury prone, but it's late in the year, 20 games left.
A 4-6 week ding and we - easily - could never see him again AND get zilch for him. Unacceptable.

These negotiations have not gone well, as I alluded to.
If he got hurt, missed the playoffs, and hits the market, I dont think there's a chance he comes back anyway. Bad negotiations are like bad arbitration cases. The sting doesnt ever seem to go away.

So if he blocks a shot or takes a hit or has a fight and goes down, as he already has this season, misses 3-6 weeks, and the Rangers get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs (not like, out of the realm), he may make it back for a few games or not.

But the next time you see him, he'd be one very rich Sabre.
And the Rangers will have nothing to show for him. No good.

I watch him a lot too. He's been asked to do too much. He's more effective with support from the twins.

Every time he's on the ice, he's matched up against top lines, while he's been with Santorelli and Higgins most of the season. So he's scoring goals with no playmaker against top lines.

Put Kesler on a balanced team or with more scoring depth and he'll produce more.

I just dont see the Callahan comparisons. Kesler is the superior player.

Most TOI of any forward in the league. How is he declining? Certainly isnt a health issue.

Besides, i dont care how long ago it was. He single-handedly neutralized Toews in a playoff series. When was the last time a Rangers forward neutralized anybody in a playoff series.

With 3 games in 4 nights here I would be shocked to see any moves made before next week. Cally and Girardi will be playing and be on this team until then if I had to bet.

MSL is too old, Kesler is broken down. Either guy instantly becomes our best player. If you don't want to give up pieces fine, but be real.

Ive got problems with Sather, but at the very least, I can be happy knowing his reply to Yzerman would be something like:

"C'mon Stevie, you know I cant do that" followed by a counter-offer, instead of

"OMG Steve, are you ****ing drunk??? No way!!" (slams phone, calls Calgary about Glencross).

Very funny. Got a good laugh on that. Sather's a buffoon

Kesler's production does not show he would be our best player for the last 2.5 years regardless of whatever reason people want to come up with.

MSL's production on the other hand would..

Its no debate. Kesler is better than Stepan. The question is whether they view their current roster and prospects as the foundation of a perennial contender or pieces to trade to build a one or two-shot deal.

Stepan could develop into a Krejci type. We'll see.
