Funny Kenjets you mentioned maybe Anaheim wasn't after Girardi, and maybe the package was around Stralman instead, pending Girardi getting resigned. Everyone saw Boomer say Vatanen on Twitter and instantly assumed it was going to be for Girardi.

A few Tweets later people said:

His response:

Maybe he meant in general? Boomer never said it would be Girardi going.

Just throwin' it out there.

Also:

Boomer is still sold on this going down, despite doubt starting to set in.

I like stralman but that's excellent value. Stralman and Klein are the same in my eyes in terms of production. Neither brings any. That's a no-no for vigneault. I don't expect both to be back next year and stralman has looked incredibly solid for us this year.

I wonder if an extended stralman along with let's say a 3rd or 4th can land one of their top prospects.

105.9 The X, Adam Proteau (The Hockey News) is live talking MSL.

He said he believes (obviously) Callahan isn't getting it done, and there needs to be something like a 2nd round pick, and maybe a prospect involved. It's not like the Iginla situation and they may even need to get a third team involved (been discussed here) to get it done.

Better than Dreger's crap.

Git er done, Slats!

Put tsn after my twitter handle and my random speculation will also be as widely regarded.

It's unfortunate. I thought he was more of a facts guy. Guess not.

You guys should do a quick run over the site rules, we've already been too lenient. If you don't like someone, put them on ignore. No more warnings.

With just over 2 hours to game-time, Im wondering if you still think a trade will go down before the first game back

well, they've only got a couple of hours! LOL
Nah man, I gave up around 2pm. Things seemed to take a step back today; Bartlett come out and seemingly contradicted himself.
The Girardi stuff sounded close, then contradictions all over the place, etc.

Bartlett said, regarding Cally, that they've talked this week and will again.
Yesterday he said they haven't talked "contract" since before Sochi.
Does that mean they spoke this week, but only about a trade?
after a while I get too tired to keep guessing.
if they make a deal, itll be announced!

Once I saw Dreger mention Kreider for St Louis I was done.
That guy makes me sick.

So we should root for MASSIVE blunders first to eventually field cornerstone-type players?

That's just it...can it still be called a blunder when it led directly to potentially the best trade in the history of the organization?

Obviously we don't want poor decisions to be made, but what happened with Gomez just goes to show you that sometimes what's considered to be a blunder is actually a blessing.

Please no.

I'm pretty surpsied Espo hasn't had a major heart attack yet, hahaha. I guess old school Italians can do that for years.

Why wouldn't they dress tonight???

The goal is still to get wins...They already are missing Zucc and have Cam in net. Got to put the best lineup you can on ice every game.... Might as well sit Girardi, Callahan, Stralman, Boyle etc because they could be trade bait....silly

Silly? you're protecting a valuable piece of your franchise that's about to return you a valuable piece. In this case especially, it sure doesn't seem like Callahan is ever signing another contract here, even in July. So they'd BEST get something for a 28-yr old captain like him. Sheesh.

I can remember the Rangers supposedly had a deal for Barret Jackman (I think it was) for Mike Richter all set.

They tried to squeeze one more game out of Richter, I remember it was an afternoon game, and he went post to post and blew out his MCL.
He eventually came back, got concussed when Martin Rucinsky hit him in the head during warmups (I was 50 feet away and remember the sound; instant bad news), and he retired. Rangers got nothing. another small reason for the years of misery that followed. I might be a bit foggy on the details, someone can refresh my memory.

But they definitely risked a player they were ready to move and paid dearly for it.

The problem is that people say Tampa has no leverage, they have a lot. Worst case scenario for them might be the best scenario, St. Louis doesn't get moved and they have him for the playoffs. It's not a Vanek situation where the Islanders either move him or get nothing.

That link...I feel like I'm listening to the cast of Goodfellas talk about trade rumors.

Either way, I still think there is something to the MSL trade, but I also think Sather finds another player to trade Callahan for.

There was a deal for Jackman pending before that game? I had no idea.

They don't have to move Cally, and they might not. If they can't get a desirable return he's still useful for the playoffs. The Rangers aren't out of the running and just waiting for next season.

So you want to lose the next 3 games by not dressing Callahan/Girardi because they are potential chips in a trade?

Nevermind the media storm and team distraction that would result with media constantly asking about their status for the next week....it would just create a circus and be bad for the lockerroom in my opinion.

When you do that you are telling the hockey world that these guys ARE going to be traded....the best thing for Sather and the organization to do is keep their gameface on with these guys even though OBVIOUSLY there is plenty of trade talk and phone calls going on...

It's not like the Rangers are the only team doing this...are guys on every team around the league just sitting out because they could be traded?????
