Maybe with the Boomer tweet they're preparing themselves. If you go through the thread on the trade board. It's Sbisa and a 2nd. Everyone else is off limits. Interesting how it is changing tonight. After Vatanen's performance in Sochi, there was a post here hat Girardi couldn't get Vatanen alone. He's exactly what is needed here and should only get better.

There's so many ways this team can be creative. If you have him and Fast playing the RH points on units 1 and 2, you don't need Richards and can spend that money in other areas.
You get Smith-Pelly as the second piece in that trade, that kid will do so much board work and could help immediately.

It's good I guess, but my point was that you still have to project. DZ had almost 40 and he wasn't really a great PMD, at least not a good PP guy.

Not sure how the Rangers are getting Vatanen while not trading Girardi or Callahan. John Moore is going nowhere. Furthermore if its true that St Louis is demanding to be traded only to the Rangers, you don't have that much leverage.

He had his 5 Cup rings. but Jim Dolan WAS a novice owner, his father having just retired from the little family conglomerate. And it's not only since come to light Dolan had some drinking/self-control issues when younger, but Sather claimed on the record his early mandate from ownership was the star-attraction route, to keep turnstiles humming. Ive doubted it myself as being too convenient, but who knows what sather was really dealing with?

Seems like a stretch to go from Girardi for Vatanen to Moore for Vatanen. One is easily our weakest D-man and one is 3rd and some people think higher (though most would disagree). One is very respected and highly touted and one I think is pretty obscure, though I believe he was a former 1st rounder. If Vatanen is as good as most Rangers fans believe I would think John Moore wouldn't get it done.

Vatanen has scored more goals this season alone than John Moore has scored in his entire career. J. Moore wouldn't be enough.

Dolan hasn't gotten any better. Look at the Knicks. What saved the Rangers is a hard cap and lack of ticket sales in the early 2000s. With both, they had to go young and actually had a hard working team.
John Moore wouldn't even make the Ducks top 8 right now. He's not a bad player but they have so much depth on D it's ridiculous. What they don't have is a guy to eat up minutes a la Niedermayer. Girardi is no Niedermayer but he will play half the game.

Moore wouldn't do it for Anaheim, if he's better than Vatanen now it's only by a hair's edge and only in his own end (and I like Moore, generally).
I'm very interested in seeing what we do and how we shuffle the pieces around, though. If we're really going to wheel and deal I can see a roster player like Pouliot, Boyle, Klein or Moore going somewhere if someone else wants to extract another pick out of us.

No offense, but I don't think either of those trades are realistic. John Moore certainly wouldn't return Vatanen. If we were lucky enough to have that go through, sincerely doubt they would move Vatanen in a package for MSL, especially if he would only accept a trade to the Rangers.
