This isn't going away. This is the 2nd player this could be happening to. Nash had a NMC and wanted to go to the Rangers as well.

I think Allen is a lefty, McI is a righty however. Not sure if that would be used as the deciding factor however.

Totally agreed Allen is more polished, just wasn't sure if they would want him playing his off side. But back to the original point, I would look to see if there could be value gotten for AS, Allen deserves his shot.

I liked the Allen-Staal pairing from earlier in the year. Nice blend.
That would probably be my "ideal scenario" on defense. Sign Girardi (to a good contract), move Stralman for picks/prospects, bring up Allen.
What if Boomer's talk put pressure on TB and the deal got nixed bc of that? Maybe players who wouldn't have been aware of a possible trade talked to MSL about it and convinced him not to go? What an absolute ******* up that'd be by NYR fan Boomer Esiason.
Deal was supposed to happen already based on the Boom's sources and talking. Worrying now that nothing happens and I was really really hoping to be surprised with it.

I totally understand why and how it's come to this, but the fact that we're trying to make ourselves think Chris Stewart + for Callahan is a good deal is just sad.
The fact that we're also talking about losing Girardi for futures is even more sad.
This team is going to be doing a hard reset if they lose both guys and the only "current" asset coming back in Chris Stewart. I hope they realize that.

And I doubt anyone would be able to sway his thoughts on that.

No. Boomer from his own speculation said he thought they would want this deal done ASAP. That is not saying it will be done immediately.
Dont forget that was a saga that blew right past the trade deadline and into the summer.

At bare minimum I think he could fetch a 3rd round pick. I think the most likely outcome is hold and walk (or resign in the summer).

Yeah no, it's highly likely that if MSL changed his mind it had more to do with his family and winning a Gold Medal. But I don't think that gold medal remedies the situation and I am pretty sure his family would want him closer. If anything it has players in Tampa wondering why management would treat their longest tenured player like that. Rangers players probably can't convince Callahan to take less money... These are adults we're talking about.

My gut tells me, that if this was going down, neither team would want their respective player to wear the sweater for team after all this became public.......and to just get the deal over and done with.
My point, if MSL plays in a game for the Lightning, he aint getting traded boys.....

Why does Klein make you feel that way? Frankly, I haven't seen enough of him (just because he rarely stands out...kind of like Sauer)
But most importantly, what it doesnt do, is force Tampa Bay to make a rash trade for poor value -- which any conceivable 1 for 1 swap with the Rangers would be.
I assure you its not as sad as dreaming for a huge return for Callahan the rental.

At least not until the offseason. I mean, I get that the guy wants to be close to his fam, but why all of a sudden? The Olympic snub I get also.
But again, y is Yzerman going to just quickly deal him if he thinks he can get a better return later? St. Louis being on the team isn't ideal, but it's better than trading him for Cally straight up.

MSL's family is with him in Tampa for the record. Everyone comes back to the NE for the summer so he can train and also be near his wife's family.
