Oh GAWD. If we start down this path with Glenny boy pursuing a shiny new (old) toy, it's going to be a roster turnover cluster**** with the RANGERS shipping out young assets - and I highly doubt I'll like what the team looks like coming out the other end.

The article (even google translated) reads a lot like one reporter's musings. I hope that's all it is.

RL is incredibly reliable, but hoping this is just speculation.

trading for ST Louis then trading Callahan to recoup assets could be a good idea.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind this at all. Of course, it would depend on what we give up for St. Louis.

I think St. Louis could still play at a high level for at least another 2 years before he starts declining into a good, but not elite player.

If St. Louis really is requesting a trade only to the Rangers, then it definitely helps us leverage wise.

Hell, I would rather keep Callahan if we got St. Louis, lol. Try to make a run and go for it.

could we even afford to do that? whats his pro rated cap hit?

 Oh for the love of...

Just out of curiosity, who's the fourth line RW getting 8 min of ice per night in this brilliant scenario? Callahan? MSL? Zuke? Or did you want to demote Nash to that role?

Didn't even think of that.

If he's getting paid 5.6 mil per year (I think?), then the pro rated cap hit should be around 2 mil or so, right?

Edit-BrooklynRangersfan, why is it that far-fetched?

There you go.

Boyle-Moore-Carcillo..

its really not that hard to figure out.. not saying thats what we should do either.. it was a simple question, but there is your answer.

Edit.. I did forget about Hagelin

Nash can play LW but he is FAR more effective at RW. Callahan can't play LW either. Zuccarello can play either.

Who exactly are we trading for MSL in this scenario? JT Miller? That would be ludicrous and i would lose my ****.

For starters, probably JT Miller. Final deal could be something like JT Miller, Skjei/McI, and probably a conditional pick.

He is 38, though. Also, he's apparently requested a trade only to the Rangers. Those two things helps us leverage wise.

Nash has played LW a ton in his career and scored a ton of goals doing it..

Callahan is on my 2nd line RW?

Zucc is on the 3rd line where that line shouldn't be split up playing RW.

AV has balanced our lines. He's not going to create a super line.

Nash and Richards also don't mesh well together.

I think we'll see a trade for a 3rd line winger like McGinn or Stewart too. Independent of Cally.

Like a 2nd and a prospect for McGinn or something. Sather loves grit and playoff season is coming up.

That'll slide down Poo to our 13th forward position.

again not saying I would do that.. or would trade for MSL AND keep Callahan. I was just pointing out that its doable and there is room for everyone. simply asked a question if we could afford him and then answered another.

Pouilot has been very good lately, I wouldn't want him playing 13th forward. I don't want to break up the 3rd line

Nash was tried at LW in NY. He has stated multiple times he feels more comfortable on the RW. Why move your most dominant goal scorer out of position which will hurt his game? Doesn't make sense.

Nash
St Louis
Callahan

That's your RW. All 3 of those players can play 18-20 minutes and probably should in order to justify keeping them.

St Louis makes very little sense. This team should be building to contend over a long period of time, not just a year.

This would be such a typical Rangers way of asset management. Trade away one of our promising young centers (a position where we SERIOUSLY lack depth) for an aging star, who is at most, going to give us a handful of years on a nice fat contract.

Meanwhile, JT Miller at a whopping 20 years old, and extremely under Rangers control, is sent packing.

What a mistake this would be and of epic proportions.

Another decade of failure for this organization and it's FANTASTIC leader, Glen "i have 5 rings" Sather.

Has anyone even broached the idea TB could swap MSL for Cally and then move Cally elsewhere, 3-way deal style?

The one sticking point in the mind of many is why would TB deal StL for a rental? well, if they'd prefer futures - and they're under the gun to deal MSL due to his demands - maybe they flip Callahan to Buffalo for a bunch of prospects/picks, or wherever for a young guy they have targeted. Or even for a vet they like, one who's signed.

never know, but that's one possibility that doesnt affect what Boomer predicted; thought it should at least be mentioned..

Hmm never heard that Nash wasn't comfortable on the left.
