This is ridiculous, it was fun for a while now nothing. Only thing this leak could have accomplished is create fan backlash and cause Yzerman to not make any MSL trade.
Not sure I agree with this. If MSL does REALLY want out, this now makes the situation toxic publicly. If they don't rectify it in a day or so and publicly "get past it", this will be a story line for the rest of the year and into the playoffs. Is Marty trying? Does he want to be here? How can you win with a Captain that isn't committed?*
Yzerman and Tampa don't want that. They are putting together a great season. Last thing they need is that distraction/black cloud. If it at all was going to happen this deadline, this kind of puts the screws on - vs keeping it private. If it's not going to happen Stevie and MSL will publicly make amends and that will be that.
*Not that I think he will be anything less than committed and professional. But the questions and doubts in the media will be there.

So if Cally and MSL are playing next game does that mean no deal?
just another reason why I think everything's been carefully timed here to coincide with the players return from the Olympics, let it all air out a few days and let everyone publicly inoculate themselves, then consummate the deal & get it over with.
Boomer tweeted this weekend, when there was no NHL action, meaning whomever fed him this timed it,
or perhaps they collaborated, doesnt really matter.
It's all not a coincidence, and its all right on schedule.
There's nowhere else for the story to go but result in a deal or die.
Within 24 hrs (of Brooks' story, the first nationally published one) it quickly settled to TB needing more than a rental, meaning Cally + conditional, which props Yzerman up a bit publicly - and he'll need it.
The next day or two, then we get back to playing.
The next day or two, and it could grow toxic for TB.
So still think it's gotta be done before Thursday....
Which is why you are the board Redden.
Is that like a cave troll?
Boomer got played like that reporter on House of Cards. Like I said he's a pawn in a greater game. Or a centipede for the other side, can't remember.

What...?
Wait till it plays out why don't you.
Martin St. Louis fought all his life to be respected.
At the University of Vermont, he scored an average of two points per game for four years. Few players are as productive in the NCAA. Despite all efforts, no NHL team has dared recover.
On leaving university, St. Louis got an invitation to training camp with the Ottawa Senators in 1997. Jacques Martin was head coach at the time and because he was too small, he had decided to let him go without giving him the opportunity to play a preseason game.
It is finally with Tampa Bay he got his real chance, that is able to demonstrate his offensive talent. He participated in the 2006 Olympics in Turin, but was dismissed from the Canadian squad in 2010.
Since the Vancouver Olympics, the Quebec striker was the top scorer in the NHL. For four years, he did everything in his power to ensure his position with the Canadian team for the Games in Sochi ... All that to learn from its CEO, Steve Yzerman, he had not been selected.
This decision was very unpopular with St. Louis, but also by other members of the organization. At that time, training was in Winnipeg and a member of the organization told me that an atmosphere reigned burial. As if someone had died.
This "injustice" disappointed the diminutive winger and he began to think about his future with the Lightning. He then asked Steve Yzerman of the exchange, preferably the New York Rangers and the Quebec has a residence in Connecticut, where he trains in the summer.
The question now is whether he is ready to drop his demand transaction, now that he has participated in the Olympics because of the absence of his teammate Steven Stamkos.
At a time when we speak, there is no indication that his demands have changed. We'll see if the Lightning and Rangers will agree on the price, but we already know qu'Yzerman does not want Ryan Callahan back.
Renaud Lavoie's take which I just translated.

Lol so now its:
??? for St. Louis
Then trade Callahan in separate deal to recoup assets.
Wouldnt be a terrible idea.
