Ok that may be true. It was just my hypothesis. Just seems so convoluted. There are only so many players in the league and it seems like he said no to all of them.

He did say no to quite a few players and teams mentioned. Maybe he said no to the player it actually was, that's certainly a possibility.

One thing is for sure, MSL was mentioned at least twice and he never responded with a "no." or anything for that matter to those tweets. FWIW.

Okay so link someone to Callahan? You're making conjecture about why the link doesn't have to be to the person they are trading for, so make a connection that fits within the rest of the puzzle that is not MSL.

I'm just putting into question all the theories on here... not really giving any of my own, because frankly, I don't care to speculate too much beyond throwing random names out there. Is there a connection with Callahan on another team somehow? Maybe. Not the point of me bringing it up though.

There's a pretty good chance that we are reading some of his responses too literally. There's also a chance that he's used semantics and misdirected a couple of things on purpose.

We say that it can't be Boston, but what Boomer said was that it isn't Toronto or Boston. Which could easily just mean "Toronto or Boston? Nope, just one of them." Similar to "I have two coins that total 30 cents and one of them is not a nickel. What are they?" Who knows here. I'm content to just sit here and have random thoughts, rather than try to parse his meaning.

Does anyone really think that such a high character guy like MSL that's been on Tampa Bay forever would really sulk so much about getting snubbed once (remember he ended up getting picked anyway) and say "I want to be traded!"? The guy is not as emotionally fragile as that.

Why does he need to be emotionally fragile to say he wants to be moved after the architect of his team showed he doesn't believe in him when everything is on the line. Why does it need to be sulking. Have you been brought to connect someone who has a sense of worth and who stands up for himself as being violative or fragile, or weak.

I think it shows high character to be willing to uproot your whole system based on something you believe in.

The lightning might have been MSL team up until now, but it is Yzerman's team now

Not sure if this is posted already...

But I found this in a thread at the trade section of the main Board;

Alfredsson, Plekanec and MSL IMO.

Scratch off Plekanec since Montreal needs their centers and Rangers would need to send one away. Or they could move Richards to wing, who knows.

I'll have to diagree, lirl.

reigning Art Ross trophy winner.

Still beasting without Stamkos.

Both of them have a decent lead on him scoring-wise.

I mean, I guess he's in the conversation, but he currently isn't PPG. As I said, he's still great, but has production isn't quite as good as either of those two.

Our captain is a plugger and we haven't won anything

This isn't mark messier leaving

He doesn't want to sign a reasonable contract bye bye

Not sure if this is posted already...

But I found this in a thread at the trade section of the main Board;

Okay, so after going through contracts on CapGeek, I trimmed it down to these 11:

Datsyuk
Barkov
Jurco
Girgensons
Kopecky
Tatar
St. Louis
Ruutu
Grabner
Alfredsson
Plekanec

Boomer said "he respects the player", so I think we can eliminate the names of the 20 and Unders on that list, so that cuts it down to 8 and leaves us with:

Datsyuk
Kopecky
Tatar
St. Louis
Ruutu
Grabner
Alfredsson
Plekanec

Thank you!

I think we can eliminate Kopecky, Tatar, Ruutu, Grabner (Def, no Isles) and Plekanec. I don't see how any of those fit.

Datsyuk
St. Louis
Alfredsson

Very short list. :)

Datsyuk is signed through '17. Not exactly short term, also, he is in the same boat as MSL. Why in the world would he be traded unless he demanded it? So far, there have been no rumors outside of Boomer that involved Datsyuk. There were two for MSL.

Alfredsson, possible I suppose.

He said no to Boston alone in another tweet regarding Marchand.

Think what you want about the trade but those are 4 damn good lines.

Edit - I'd imagine Boyle plays LW and Dorsett at RW with Carcillo being a scratch.

Maybe, it doesn't really make a ton of difference IMO. Swap them as needed.

I will say that Carcillo always seems to be effective in the playoffs.

i love how no one on the lighting page is talking about st.louis, they have no idea whats about to hit them :D

Yeah he's been hinting at that direction for the longest time. As a Ranger fan I would be a stoked for MSL for Callahan, and I love Ryan Callahan.

I'll take it a step further and Cally is going to Buffalo as a UFA after the deal, and this trade happened because MSL wanted to be closer to his family.

The Olympic snub isn't a snub since the guy just won a gold medal today. I think this will be a trade because of family.

MSL gets to be closer to his, Callahan gets the money he wants for his young family, and gets a chance to go home to Buffalo as UFA.

Let's not forget the MSL lovefest that Sam and Joe have been on all season in those Tampa Bay games. Even AV was commented on it.

1) I think your right. Buffalo seems to be willing to pay him major money over long term to bring him in as a spark and revitalizing to the fan base and serve as a leader/mentor/example for the organization.

2) I think this does certainly play a part into why St. Louis would force a trade here, or be willing to waive his NMC for.

3) It's a snub man. I don't know how you guys can't see it that way. If your a champion like St. Louis and pittbull like him and your leading your team in pts, your teams having a great season even with stamkos out and the guy who builds the team, doesn't believe in you enough to name you to his team to play in the biggest (debatable) tournament in the world. Thats a snub regardless of what went down. St. Louis being fragile or sulky as someone else just stated would have been him refusing to take Stamkos roster spot, not saying I don't want to play for you Yzerman.

The point gap isn't that sizable IMO, Kane and Kessel would finish with 8 more points over the 82 game season. Also keep in mind St. Louis's most common linemates are two rookies, Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. The quality of his linemates is obviously dragging down his production.

Alfredsson doesn't make much sense to me since his contract is up after the season. Might as well just keep Callahan at that point and if we want Alfy go after him in the offseason.
