My thoughts, he is banking on this going down before the show starts. Otherwise why would he be able to talk about it tomorrow, but not now?

So that people will listen to his joke of a show, is why.

Id be surprised if Boomer went this far and its a ruse. That would kinda be clownish like his co-host.

Definitely, that's a Craig Carton move, not a Boomer move.

He said on twitter he doesn't need the listeners/viewers. Not saying it's impossible, but I am not sold on that theory yet.

Aren't you the 1 who derailed the thread with the Canadian thing?

Need to relax & comprehend brotha

Hahahahaha. Yup, that was me. Have to admit, I don't usually follow Twitter feeding frenzies like this. Much more used to guys like Dreger and McKenzie who state what they mean outright and it just pops up on my list. Trying to dig through the responses, retweets and figure out where it all started got me a little dizzy. :) I have it figured out now (way too late). Sorry for any confusion.

So, to sum up - it's still looking like MSL.

The idea that Boomer is selling his integrity for a bump in one show's ratings is absurd. Especially when the show is doing well. They're on TV again now, they have a pretty long contract from what I understand too.

probably not completely fake, but i highly doubt there is a trade that is going to be dont as quickly as he seems to make it sound

Doesn't the league have to approve any trade ? Would the league office be open on a Sunday night ?

Just asking

Another reason to hate Boomer and Carton's morning show. They keep it light and fun which I like, but Carton is a clown. Boomer is a guy still trying to keep the spotlight on him. Every show he was to mention how he's an ex-player and "how the business works". Those two are having a dick measuring contest with Francesa to see who can break a story quicker.

Joe and Evan, bro. That's my show, bro. You know what I mean, bro?

Mike is the greatest to ever do what he does

Bar none

Joe is a massive clown

I'm not sure on that, trades have been made pretty late in the past. Maybe they are on standby after roster freezes? I'm not the guy to ask on this one.

Definitely a big risk, no one will ever trust him again.

I doubt it. Everyone who reports rumors gets them wrong occasionally - not necessarily because they were wrong or they spoke too quickly, but because something unforeseen comes up. Another team comes in with a better offer, the other team (i.e. the one his source doesn't know) pulls out, etc.

Given what Boomer has gotten right in the past, he'll be able to say "my source was 100%, but guys on the other side pulled back" or "the player in question is showing renewed willingness to negotiate" or something like that and still have cred for multiple more bites at the apple before people stop listening to anything new he has to report.

Boomer doesn't need ratings stunts. His show does very well, he has his NFL gig on CBS, and he made a lot of money as a very good NFL QB.

Still, it's interesting how this created a ripple effect and MC Larry chimed in to lay down some truth on us.

If Cally is dealt, I think we'd all prefer for young pieces and picks.

I'm sure he heard something. I doubt it's as imminent as he's led everyone to believe.

I don't know if he was boozing a little and shocked at the prospect of it actually going down. But he said done deal. he made it sound as imminent as it could be. Maybe it was the fan in him that got him into the moment so much, but thats a bad PR move if he wasnt sure

I think what typically happens is someone who's actually reputable will report the trade as being agreed upon pending the trade-call in the morning. By someone reputable I mean not Boomer Esiason.

I think we can all agree that St. Louis in Ranger blue, for this coach, would be a ridiculous boost in offense...

Brooks' article says Sather inquired about a Callahan for St. Louis swap and Tampa has zero interest, which makes perfect sense from every angle.

Sather's laziness never ceases to amaze me. Targeting young players in a trade for multiple pieces is a lot of work. A 38 year year old Martin St. Louis, however.....

They also get reported when both sides have agreed and have sent in the paperwork, but the office hasn't yet responded.

It has happened many times that the two teams agree, contact the office and then confirm the rumor with reporters - and the trade isn't then finalized until hours, and in some cases days, later.

I don't know man, I think a lot of people are going to feel pretty burned. I definitely would be taking anything he said going forward with a very tiny grain of salt.

Even if he had a good reason why the potential trade did not go down, and what the trade was going to be. You're right it happens, but you can't take that risk if you want to keep your reputation in tact.
