Speculation: Trade Rumor/Speculation Thread XXI: Boomer is running this board.

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. MSL is signed for another year. He would be good that year. Probably has one more year in him at least after that.

Unless MSL has asked out, I am not sure why Tampa would do MSL for Cally though...

Step 1: Trade for MSL.
Step 2: Re-sign MSL after next season.
Step 3: Get MSL to convince Stamkos to join him for a last hoorah in NY when he's a UFA in 2016.

How much "less evolved" are you going to look if someone was right? :laugh:
 
This whole thing reaks of Ruutu and a conditional pick. probably 3rd which becomes a first if cally resigns with carolina.

What needs to be remembered is this trade is getting made not to better the team, but so we don't lose cally for nothing.

While I would not be excited about Ruutu it gives us a pretty decent top 9 guy with a cap hit of 4.75 over the next 3 years. Which allows us to resign some of our guys and pick someone up in free agency.

This is a deal that fits exactly what boomer is saying, when it makes us look like buyers and sellers since we are giving up the better player, but getting a vet and pick in return.

I just hope the pick is higher then a 3rd if he doesn't resign

How many players are that to the Rangers and fill all the other criteria? Ruutu is certainly not.
 
Starting to think maybe this trade actually isn't the Callahan trade. Unless it is bizarro-world, Cally doesn't get you a tremendous upgrade AND possibly a conditional.

He said something about olympians who we would not trade. i noticed Callahan and Hagelin werent on the list when i saw it. Can anyone find it and or does anyone remember if McD was safe?

Maybe its Kreider or something

He never said it was Callahan, and I don't think anyone would have a problem with Callahan for MSL.

Yeah, we're not moving Kreider. Slats wouldn't move him for Nash, and that was before he solidified a roster spot.
 
mayb cally and hagelin for someone, i think nash is untouchable theyve said it before
