Speculation: Trade Rumor/Speculation Thread XXI: Boomer is running this board.

After reading all of this stuff, I still haven't seen anything that firmly states it would be Callahan being traded. All I saw was the original tweet, which said nothing about Callahan, and then a bunch of fans speculating that it was Callahan who will be traded. What if this all comes down and the Rangers move Hagelin for St. Louis and then Callahan to San Jose for Boyle?

Im not upset about anything. I think Boomer heard something, probably from a reliable source, and he presented it vaguely on twitter. Seems to be designed to whip up a frenzy, more than anything else, which is certainly has. The fact is there are no facts from what he put forth.

Somebody like McKenzie, who is more closely linked to the sport, doesn't have much liberty to do something like that.

In other words, I'd believe something coming from him far more than Boomer Esiason.

It was never said that both players being involved in the trade are Olympians. He never insinuated that there is more than one healthy Olympian involved in the trade, unless I missed something.

Yeah, so he thinks if Callahan is traded that his value is solidified unless he gets hurt. Still doesn't mean Callahan is part of all this speculation. Which would explain why guys like MacKenize are getting the "Nothing imminent" bit from whoever their sources are when they ask about Callahan.

But I highly, HIGHLY doubt he is just stirring the pot with no info. He has clearly gotten good info before.

Whether it is just another calculated leak / misdirection or something substantial, who knows.

Why? I don't see ESSIASON as a rumormongerer..Hell the only thing I associated him with regards to hockey is when he talked pretty confidently about KLEIN and nobody paid attention until weeks later....Maybe he only speaks up when he feels real confident like he did then and yesterday?....MCKENZIE on the other hand deals with GMs, players, reporters every day and is more likely to hold off until he has every Duck in the Row for the player's and team's sake .....and something like Essiason's inside info, though proven, isn't not enough for him...Which means, I trust McKenzie if he reports it but I also trust Essiason and it is not unrealistic for him to come out with it first when McKenzie is still silent
