Buffalo can't really wait for July 1 to roll up on Callahan, they only have like 8f and 4d either signed or RFAs. There's gonna be an exodus unless they make a stabilizing move for Callahan now despite the cost.

Two separate posters have come here, one before the Boomer tweet broke out, and said they had close connection to MSL saying he asked for a trade, and it was an MSL/Cally swap in the works.

Then Boomer give out a ton of hints about the deal, that MSL fits almost perfectly with. He's the only player mentioned on his Twitter feed so far who he hasn't outright denied.

The only reason it doesn't makes sense is if the MSL rumors are not true and he isn't asking out of Tampa.

I have a hard time believing St. Louis asked for a trade. There's been no peep of that kind of thing reported by any of the Tampa media or any of the wider media. Pierre Lebrun in particular seems to have pretty good contacts with the team. And I have a hard time believing Yzerman would trade him for a player who could easily walk for nothing at season's end.

What descriptions fit St. Louis? Because the ones last night didn't seem to fit him much at all. If St. Louis indeed asked for a trade, I think the Lightning would make the news public, otherwise they'd be facing a fan revolt when the deal went down.

Ruutu should be viewed as a toxic asset with his recent production + contract. Unless he's coming back solely as a contract dump with a major asset ala Lindholm or Faulk, stay far, far away.

no way id move Callahan for just Ruutu.. a prospect like Lindholm or McGinn must be involved or a 1st round pick.

Unless I missed it on Twitter (and Twitter search is ****, especially hours after the original post was made), NOWHERE did Boomer said the deal he referenced was for Cally.

He had one tweet where he said:

Nowhere does it say that the deal he's referencing involves Callahan (or even the Rangers for that matter). Just that there would be a huge deal and that it would be shocking and surprising. And, separately, that he believes one of Cally or Girardi - most likely Cally - is gone.

Given all the interplay after that, we're all assuming he's talking about Cally. And I admit that given all the other hints, Cally for MSL makes sense. But I'm hoping it's something else that would be even more out of left field.

I said the same thing in the Trades & Rumors thread on the main board, and no one responded. At no point has Boomer specifically said that Cally is the player involved in the rumor he heard.
