Did you guys ever think some of the responses he threw out were a bit of misdirection?

Boomer's not gonna do that. He's not gonna risk being seen as the boy who cried wolf. No Ranger would take what he says seriously from now on, bc he intently misdirected them. Not a good play by a guy like Boomer, if thats true.

Neil is a significant downgrade... thankfully its not him.

Paccioretty?.. well I mean other names like St Louis have been thrown out so why the hell not.

Problem with trading Callahan for prospects and picks is that yu're really not going to be getting any good ones out of it...if you're lucky you'll get a prospect who might one day be as good as Callahan. Picks are a crapshoot and you're not going to get a high 1st round pick...most likely a very late one if you can get a 1st.

So...you save cap space, you get a future asset, but that asset isn't as valuable as Callahan himself and may not ever be.

That's generally the issue...so if you could trade him for someone who helps the team now approximately as much as Callahan helps the team, and costs less, you're not doing too bad

Forgive me if I've misread but didn't a member say that fans already hit on the player but Boomer said no? Neil is the only guy from the east who I can see rangers fans hating "think carcillo" and causing a separation between fans. MSL definitely doesn't fit that.

If this does happen with Cally, the only good news is I can finally stop reading these idiotic stupid speculation posts from fans around the net especially this forum. That is a win right there for everyone.

Rangers are even more stupid to part ways with Cally, and all I can say is revenge is a dish best served cold.

He never said that the trade target would be a hated player. Never.

Patches fits the description, and makes a little more sense from the Rangers perspective given his age and contract. No idea why Montreal does it though, unless he's demanding a trade. Even then, seems like they could do better than a Callahan rental and a conditional pick, unless they really believe once they get Callahan there that they will sign him.

There's some good options between trading him for a pick, that will take years to develop and a 40 year old, mainly someone who is in his early 20's, with upside, that can contribute immediately.

I'm sure there are options out there. And regardless, I'd prefer a 1st round pick over MSL. I won't be happy with either, but at least one is a building block.

MSL is almost 40. How anyone could advocate trading for him, I just don't get.

Habs always seem to want more physical guys ever since the playoffs last year

Brad Marchand. Someone asked about Marchant and Boomer said no. He also tweeted the Rangers possibly getting a conditional pick. It could be if the team acquiring Callahan signs him or reaches the Cup final or wins the Cup,the Rangers get a #1 or a #2 from a 3rd. Something like that. Boomer said the player would be going as a rental and Callahan is most likely headed to Buffalo in free agency. The Bruins haven't been happy with Marchand. Marchand taunted the Canucks in December when he pretended to lift the Cup skating by their bench. Julien was annoyed at him. Reilly Smith has replaced him at times in the top 6. Callahan for Marchand works cap wise. $4.5M for Marchand. $4.275M for Callahan. Boston takes on $800,000 in salary this season. The Bruins shed the remaining three years of the Marchand contract. $14M. $4.5M salary in each of the next 2 seasons. $5M in the last season. Boomer said think Carcillo. Marchand is a pain in the ass like Carcillo.

"I heard," Julien said. "I did hear, and obviously I don't watch the game; I coach the game, but I heard. He's a good player, and he's an agitator, and there's some good things to that part of his game, but there's certain areas where -- again, I've said it before -- you can't cross the line. Sometimes his emotions get the better of him.

"We've worked with him and we're going to continue to work with him. The perception it gives our organization is not what you want to see with those kind of things. Again, I don't know what he said to you guys, but it's certainly something we're going to deal with.

"He's too good of a player and we don't want him to be a different player, but there's certain things we want him to be different at. From what I hear, what happened, that's definitely not something we will accept in our organization."

Chiarelli and Julien have been in Sochi as part of the Canadian team. They have probably watched all of the US games.

id love Patches.. he is from CT so maybe he wants to be close to his home.. it would take more than unsigned Callahan i would think... unless Rangers want to **** Montreal again in a trade, fine by me :yo: i hope it is not Gionta :help:
