You could get rid of Pouliot in the hopes that you could find a guy who would bury more chances, but you'd be doing so at the risk of him not finding the same level of chemistry with Brassard and Zucc, assuming they're both still here.

He's looked far more motivated as a Ranger than he has on any other team. I think there's a good chance he'd take a discount to get a multi-year deal so he can finally settle in a place he seems to be very comfortable in.

poo takes some dumb penalties for sure. he just doesnt keep his emotions in check. needs to stop.

talent wise, we would be foolish to let him walk.

hes a big dude, and excellent skater, plays it physical, has a very under rated shot. he may have one of the quickest releases on the team. hes as close to a sniper as we have. he plays in all zones.

as individuals, that entire line isnt that great. together, they have been one of our best lines through out the entire playoff run. brash, zuke and poo form a terrific 2/3 line.

i would like to see them come back next year. they play off each other and show intuitiveness and chemistry. they are a matchup nightmare. they cycle the puck like a machine and create tons of scoring chances.

put me down as pro poo. lol.

yeah, i think ppl just focus on the stupid penalties. they control the puck A LOT when those 3 are on the ice. big time mistake to let him walk. same with the rest of the guys we're going to have to offer years over dollars.

My two cents: forget Prust. He is not a need or a Boyle replacement.

Pouliot is the same player now as the one all season long. Flashes of brilliance followed by penalties and laziness. I would gamble on maturity and coaching to fix the penalties. Hope the rewards of hard work fix the laziness.

Richards isn't getting bought out. I think the real decision is Nash. If I can't get a 1st or decent prospect, I seriously consider a buyout.

yeah no.

I disagree. Guys game is slipping big time and recapture risk is far too great to mess around with.

agreed. he's not making his line work..his wingers are.

though hes had a few good plays here and there.

i think against LA he could be a good player. slower teams are better for him.

Serious question, who still wants to trade Hagelin?

I think after the Flyers series he had a GREAT postseason, especially against Montreal. Very reluctant to trade him right now.

Hes a ghost at even strength because he really just cant keep up with the play anymore.

People expect that to get better or something? Excusing him from a buyout is mind-boggling.

Oh, the condescending reply. You showed me...

Not what I'm advocating. Just my prediction. They didn't buy him out last year, played better this season, brought his buddy over, viewed as the locker room leader and the team results were better. Its not as cut and dry as the experts here believe.

but still no.

Nash led the team in goals in the regular season. and last regular season. he plays on our top line. hes younger.

And, he has only 1 less point than Richards in the playoffs despite getting SIGNIFICANTLY less PP time.

Nash>Richards AINEC

I think Prust is wearing down. He's a medium size guy who plays like a heavyweight. His injury problems are only going to get worse.

Yeah, he is looking a bit tired out there. There is a life expectancy on most players like that. Proust don't got a ton left. A player like Weise though could be on the rise. I think Dorsett is coming into his own for us too. I like Carcillo too, he got some left in the tank. A super summer from him and he could play more next year.

We will play hockey for 2 more weeks. A lot of players will be tired next year. We need energy from whoever we get.

I wonder if Dave Bolland could be an option if BR is bought out? Right handed shot. Good PO performer. Didn't play much last year.

Moving up in the second round

Not sure if this belongs here but just curious what do you think it would take to move up in the 2nd round? Seeing as we don't have a 1st this, last or next year what would it take to move up to the mid/early 30s from our current 2nd round position?

Buying out Nash instead of Richards would be a huge mistake. I'm extremely confident that Nash comes back after a full offseason and looks like his normal self again. I think there's a nagging injury there somewhere that is preventing him from doing his thing.

The Rangers are in the Finals; hell they might even win it. If there's a chance that Stastny sees that as a chance to win and is willing to take $6.5M per over 6 years, I buyout Richards and sign him every single time

Nash-Stastny-MSL
Kreider-Stepan-Hagelin
Pouliot-Brassard-Zucc
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

Trade JT Miller for a 1st. That looks mint to me

The numbers don't work at all.

Nash at 7.8. Stastny at 6.5. MSL at 5.6.
Kreider at 2.5. Stepan at 3.1. Hags at 2.25
Pouliot at 2. Brassard at 4. Zuccs at 3.5.
Boyle at 2. Moore at 1.5. Dorsett at 1.6.

McD at 4.7. G at 5.5
Staal 3.9, Klein at 2.9
Moore at 1.5. Diaz at 1.2

The cap is expected to be around 69,000,000. This roster has us at -2,395,000. There's no way we buy out Ritchie and sign Stastny without making sacrifices elsewhere. In this case, we lose Stralman and would have to move someone else. Even if you move Dorsett for an ELC, that's still a -1.7 or so.

Why are we trading Miller who is close if not already NHL ready for a 1st that won't help the team for 3-4 years? Lundqvist isn't getting any younger.

Not to mention Miller would not net a 1st anyways.

Also there is no way that roster fits under next years cap.

I think the more likely scenario is trading down for more picks. The Rangers hit two absolute home runs in the 3rd last year (as of now at least). Unless there is a player that really slides, I expect a couple of high-risk picks once again with some low upside, safe picks.

Nothing to really go on but I wouldn't be surprised if the team trades down and picks up a few under the radar European kids and a CHLer or two that played in limited roles. Most of the name picks will be gone, there aren't many sliders at pick 60 or below.

Btw those advocating for a Nash buyout over Richards... Drop the Crack pipe, it ain't good for ya.

I ppersonally don't think that Richie is going to get bought out, but you never know.

The first 35 games I thought Poo was exactly just that.. Poo of the dog variety... But he picked it up... But this post season he's hurt the team more than helped.

If he's at $1.5 over 2 years I can accept that, but I wouldn't bend over backwards to bring him back.

Buyout richards...sign Grabovski, bring back the rest of the team.

OR

Buyout richards...trade for Burmistrov, bring back the rest of the team.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Pouliot - Brassard - MZA
Hagelin - Grabovski/JT Miller/Burmistrov - MSL
Boyle - Moore - Dorsett

That's what I would do if it were me.
