We need to replace BR, if bought out, everyone agrees on that.

What do we need to replace?

-Third line minutes.

-PPQB.

-Preferbly a little experience.

If we can upgrade Step or Brass, that would of course be prio 1. But to replace the above is what must be done.

Does Paul Statsny fit the bill? Not from my point of view. Statsny is a down low playmaker. Could Brass or Zucc or MSL move to the PP point? Potentially, but it's not optimal.
 
All Richards provided on the PP this year was a heavy shot. His mobility was 0, we can get a heavy shot for cheap anywhere.

He played the Kotalik role which is not hard to replace. I think in a 3rd line center we should be looking for a fast guy, good on draws who can play defense. Doesn't need to be a 40 point guy playing with Hagelin.

I'd keep an eye on compliance buyouts this summer. This UFA crop is weak. Not too many guys that I'd want there.
 
I still believe they need at least 2 forwards with size and who can provide a more physical element to their game in the top-9 ON TOP OF KREIDER COMING BACK.

Pouliot is decent.

Crazy that I am saying this especially considering his ridiculous cap hit, but what do you guys think about letang?

I doubt he is even acquirable, but the guy is a 20-40 point defenseman...

i doubt the pens give up on him given that his 8 year contract extension kicks in next season, but just a thought.
 
Viper- Agreed, I do however feel that we might have a hard time fitting in two more names (if someone goes into the top 9, someone has to go out).

I think Miller is coming in, he is still real young and a summer for a kid like that is usually huge.

I agree on the criteria for the last 1/2 wingers. Don't know if I agree about Kane. He's as inconsistent as Nash, in terms of effort given. Even more inconsistent than Nash in terms of point production.

If there are some changes to be made in Washington, I'd give Troy Brouwer a long look. He's a very good forechecker and can really lay the body. Signed at a reasonable deal for two more years. 3rd line guy who isn't out of place in the top-six. Gives the coaches more flexibility.
