Any chance could draft a nhl ready guy? I kno were gunna be late in the round but I feel like a lot of teams draft players who can make small impacts in there 1st yr not like all 82. Any good big body guys like simmonds or players that can have that slot area presence without being completely useless on the offensive end... Ya looking at you Brian Boyle

Hunter Smith is a guy I'd look at for a big body. I'm surprised no one has taken a flier on Tyler Hill, either. Went undrafted last year.

It all revolves around Sather. Does Sather have a mistress who recorded him making stupid comments about a minority group? That is the only way Dolan would ever push Sather out and not allow Glen to go out on his own terms. Its a soft team. Not much size. No net presence. None. Have you seen any Ranger forward stand in front of the net on the PP? The Flyers took away the cross ice slot pass and the Rangers look lost. No push back. The Flyers are waiting for the Rangers to send them home for the summer and the Rangers can't complete the deal. Sather is the common denominator. The coaches have changed. The players have changed. Same product. People are content with making the playoffs and winning a round. Only 8 teams out of 30 reach the second round so Sather isn't that bad. Stop rationalizing. Wayne Gretzky wants to get back into the NHL as a President of Hockey Operations. He hires the GM,etc. I don't like the Rangers going back to their Oiler ties but how much worse can Gretzky be than Sather? Wayne will hire a competent GM. Maybe its even Gorton. The Rangers are going nowhere with Glen at the helm.

I've been one of Nash's biggest supporters, but if the Rangers go out tonight, they really should think of trading him for whatever they can get. Zucc & MSL can handle the RW duties.

Look for a LW and a C to complement Kreider and Stepan.

It's a major issue. Kreider was one of the only players with the ability to set up in front of the net and use his size. The team is not built to win those types of games. The defense is VERY good, but the forward group is too much of the same thing.

It's all good to add skill but the Rangers have no diversity of scoring. When East-West lanes are shut down the Rangers have nothing. They can't even enter the zone on a PP by executing a simple dump and chase. And I mean hello? Glen do you watch other teams? How do you not see this?

You need a balance. And they keep panic swinging the pendulum from one extreme to another without a long term balanced plan.

If I'm Sather, I look to buy-out Richards and trade Nash. They have a good core here. Supplement that. Nash is not a piece you win with.

They'd likely be taking a loss, which is a tough thing to swallow for a guy Sather pushed so hard for.

Unfortunately, I don't think he's a piece you get a lot of value for in a trade either. People -- including myself -- thought he would find a new gear when he got out of Columbus. Turns out he was part of the problem as he has no ability to self-motivate.

That being said, this team is far, far worse without Nash and Richards, and they're going to have a very hard time replacing those guys. They have few assets to trade. They moved Callahan for another "win now" piece and dealt two additional assets in the process. Nash also controls his destiny with his NMC, and we all saw how that played out the last time. He's here to stay.

I fully expect them to buy out Richards and then patch another bubble team together with mediocre free agents. After all, MSL and Hank aren't getting any younger!

Luckily for Sather, when your management philosophy is to fly by the seat of your pants and meander from one extreme to the other, hindsight is often lost.

The problem with buying out Richards and trading Nash is that we have no first round pick next year. If we miss the playoffs, it would be a disaster.

Trade him to a minor market team in need for offense and a big name, like the Yotes or Preds questing can they accept his salary, will any team in this league do so?

Alright I'm bored and don't want to work today so here goes:

Richards should be playing his last game as a Ranger tonight if they lose. Brooks wrote about that last week. Everyone realizes the cap recapture will severely hinder the Rangers down the road. The Rangers are in a tough spot with these forwards.

Rangers C's have been abysmal on face-offs. Richards was 49% on face offs. Brassard 48%. Stepan 46%.

Stastny is 54%. Miller, in a limited time at C, is 51%.

I can't tell you how frustrating it has been, watching Brassard and Stepan and Richards lose our PP face-offs and lose 20-40 seconds of the power play trying to regain positioning in the offensive zone.

ive said it since the day i signed up on this forum: LET JT PLAY CENTER ON THE RICHARDS LINE. we all understand richards is an important part of the power play whether we like it or not(plays at least 1:30 of every PP). but don't let him drag down our 5 on 5 play. at this point in his career richards doesnt have the wheels to play av's style of play, brad is a PP specialist now.

Yep, yep. Nash will be a Ranger in the 2014-2015 season.

he did waive his nmc to toronto when we were trying to get him. i kno he is from that area and goes back in the offseason. any chance we can get anything useful from toronto. id see us mainly getting nazem kadri + 1st round pick +a prospect
