Any Ovie trade won't happen. I live outside of DC now and he is the franchise good, bad, or indifferent. 90% of jerseys at Caps games are # 8 and he is the only player that casual sports fans here know the name of. The Ovie business factor far outweighs any on-ice evaluation period. The inflated price due to the business factor is not worth anyone's bother.

I don't think that we'll make a big splash in the offseason unless we package Hagelin with someone. I anticipate looking like this after we deal with free agents, ain't overpowering but ain't bad. Lindberg, Fast, Allen are wild cards or first calls.

Krieds Step Nash
Hagelin Miller St Louis
Pouliot Brassard MZA
Carcillo Moore Dorsett
(Lindberg/Fast)

McD DG
Staal Tom Gilbert
Moore Klein
(Diaz/Allen)

We're gonna lose Boyle and Stralman I believe. The above after raises leaves us with approx 2.5 in cap space.

First off this has been clever title pending forever lol

Secondly what do u put Carl hagelin's value at? IMO I think he's a great 3rd liner but he doesn't have much offensive ability and I think Fast will be able to replace him next yr. do u think we move him?

Mckeznie speculates Gretzky may be brought in. He'll find a way to build around him, seeing that most teams were built around himself.

What are the odds Gretzky fails miserably, gets pissed off and trades us Ovi 50% retained for Hagelin before he just walks away from the organization?

I think that the team upgrades using minor league assets and Ufas and gets assets for potential players that are nhl ready. There just isn't enough depth or assets or cap room to make a big splash.

Nash Step MSL
Hagelin Miller Kreider
Pouliot Brassard MZA
Lindberg Moore Fast
Carcillo/4th line goon

McD DG
Staal Zidlicky
Allen Klein
(Diaz)

Trade J. Moore and/or Dorsett for NFL ready player with upside and a pick such as the following:

Weal & Saborin

Spooner & 3rd

Pulkinen & 2nd

Ty Rattie & 2nd

It's been pending for so long, that it's now become clever in itself. #postmodernism

I don't want to trade Hags. He might have a bit of value to a team like the Sharks, or as BrianBoyle mentioned, the Blues.

It wouldn't surprise me if Miller gets moved this offseason. You can debate in what kind of deal. I wouldn't trade him, but it wouldn't shock me if he does get traded.

If they give up on Miller I will be livid and leave it at that.

If he dominated the OHL last year and had this kind of a year in his first AHL season people would be going ga ga over him.

I'm not saying he's untouchable either. But I think he deserves another extended regular season look with limited pressure. His game, especially running the PP, developed to another level this season. I am confident as the NHL game slows down for him he will be able to produce.

The big thing with jt miller for me is he never has been given a chance to play his position. He a natural center. Of course he's going to make a few(or a lot) defensive mistakes but putting him at wing isn't goin to teach him how to defend as a center. I think it could possibly slow his development. But that's just my opinion and I'd love to here ur guys view of it

He could very well turn into a Dubinsky type player and that would be the second gritty energetic player we'd dumped for disciplinary issues too early in their career.

Gretzky wants to be President of Hockey Operations with the Caps. He would hire the GM who will make the personnel decisions. Ovechkin is the typical Rangers fan shiny new toy syndrome just like Nash. Lets go get him and then its this player is a loser. Build a hockey team where each player has a role. All of the pieces fit. Accumulating star players just because they are star players and we will figure out where all of the pieces fit later doesn't work.

JT Miller is a center. Right wing is his second best position. He played RW on Sunday. Miller is not defensively aware as he needs to be but who really cares if the Rangers have the puck. He needs to improve his play without the puck. He has some maturing to do off the ice. The Rangers are going to trade him for another problem child? AV is too worried about what Miller can't do. Sir Alex Ferguson spent a fortune to buy Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. He played both players out of position. Then people wonder why both of those players never developed for Manchester United. I wouldn't be surprised if Carcillo played tonight and they struggle to get anything out of that line offensively. :loony:

I am hoping that if Evander Kane is legitimately available they make a serious run at him. LW. Power forward. Goal scorer. Checks all of the boxes.

Jets would almost definitely want Staal + + . I don't think it's worth it.

Pretty sure I wouldnt trade Staal straight up for Kane, who I like as a player but he sure has some of that shiny new toy finish to him.

Oh yes. Shiny new toy is the best word to describe Kane. Is 23 and 4 years removed from breaking into the league, has broken 50 points once. I know he has "absolutely through the roof" potential, but he's taking quite a bit of time to reach it.

Of course, he's a young player and that's fine, but for a player so many people are willing to break the bank for, it really isn't.

Evander Kane is a good player with the potential to be a very good player. Staal is already a great player. I sure as hell wouldn't add to him to get Kane. In fact, I'd be hesitant to make the deal straight up. I'd wager that Kane will never be as good in his role as Staal is in his.
