If they can get that 2nd back it wont be THAT bad.

But I think its a serious longshot Tampa resigns Cally, i dont see it happening. but- hes gotta play with them so who knows.

No. I want to be competitive every year. Not for a few years.

. . . and we will have the kids around to be competitive for years. Why do you think this team is made of a lot of young, home grown guys? What, are Miller and Kreider ancient? Is McD ancient? We aren't going to fall off a cliff in two years.

Again, someone like you wishes we'd just sell for prospects every year. It's a ridiculous mentality.

We just traded a UFA to be who wants an insane contract, a late 1st, and a late 2nd for the reigning Art Ross winner and the scoring leader in the NHL who is one of the top players in the league today who makes less than Cally, is under contract, and wants to be here. That's a pretty good deal in my opinion. What are the odds that the picks turn into good players?
Erm...yeah. I think this says it all. Well put, sir.

Stockpiling picks???

What picks???

Fantastic retort.

Your issue is trading picks, a lot of posters would have rather traded Callahan for picks than a player that improves the team significantly. I enjoy picks and prospects just as much as the next person, but I also enjoy watching my team win.

I hear the rangers '14 2nd evolves to '14 1st if they make conference finals.
If Cally resigns Rangers gets TB 2nd '15 and TB gets rangers 7th '15

They have like 4 kids. And every year they get rid of their draft picks means fewer and fewer kids to replace anyone.

Didn't we already learn what a top heavy roster does with the Nash trade?

Also picks and prospects can end up bust.. MSL is a established elite NHLer

If that were the case, someone on TSN would have mentioned it, which they haven't.

Rangers had interest but were informed today that Ryan Kesler will not waive no-trade to come to New York, Post has learned.

As @NYP_Brooksie first reported, Rangers told this aft Kesler would not waive his ntc to rejoin Vigneault. No offer, but interest from NYR.

No. My issue is trading the future.

Getting older and losing picks is mortgaging the future for today. There is absolutely no way around that being true.

This gives them a couple year window of being a good team, and after those couple years the bottom falls out as they have almost no youth or potential youth to add in.
