well we need more rw when we trade step and buy out richards....
So the Rangers re-sign Callahan, and then trade for St. Louis? MSL/Nash/Zucc/Callahan all prefer, and are the most effective, on the RW. What sense would it make to have all of those guys playing the same position?
If presented with only 2 options, would you guys rather trade Cally and Miller for MSL or sign Cally for 6x6?

What are you talking about, they're centers.

How would everyone feel about Connor Allen going somewhere with Cally. Could get us a bigger package. Young D-man with 5-6 potential and a 2nd line winger. Im a fan of Allen but we have a little bit of a log jam on D right now.
Which one?
Gomez
Holik
Redden
Drury
Lindros
Fleury
Richards
Kotalik
Zherdev
Kaspiritis
Roszival
Brashear
Boogaard
Rupp
I would let Cally play out the year and let him walk for nothing. Really I would.
I wish Sather would chase down Vanek... I mean how much could it cost to get him? and keep him?

I would as well, but unfortunately, I don't think Slats would let that happen.I would let Cally play out the year and let him walk for nothing. Really I would.
I just can't wrap my head around why he wants to leave this badly though. I mean he did get to play in the Olympics when it was all said and done.
MSL plays a position the Rangers are strong at. While he has been productive, past performance is not indicative of future results. He is 38. He has a risk of deteriorating at any time.
And he does not help to alter the mix of this team. They don't match up with the teams that are big & skilled that they will need to beat to be a Cup contender. This is less a knock on Marty (he is a PO performer) and more a knock on what the Rangers are choosing to spend assets on.
You want to trade Cally, Kristo, and a 2nd? Fine.
If we're offering Callahan 6x6, I can only imagine what we offer Vanek. 7x9?
A lot, and a lot. $7M+ for at least 7 years I'd bet. Can't see the Islanders trading him here unless they get stiffed by other teams who go for Kesler, Moulson, Cammalleri, etc.
At least he fills a positional need though. An upgrade on the LW.
