In this day and age of Twitter, trades on air will be old news

Ha, I remember back in the day I'd be dialing the 976 sports lines every 20 minutes to see if any trades went down, my parents mustve been so pissed at those March phone bills ;)

The last thing I thought would be discussed today is Louie DeBrusk! Do some of you older Ranger fans remember when DeBrusk and Jason Prosofsky were going to make the early 90s Rangers nasty!?

Debrusk had a hell of a camp one year, hit everything in sight. Acquiring Graves made dealing Debrusk ALOT more tolerable, after all, we were still getting the best player in the deal.

So im assuming Cally will be dealt?? The Rangers cant be negotiating one contract right now. They have too many UFA players on the team to address.

Implying the Rangers front office are capable of anything outside of immediate short-sighted problems, come on. What team have you been watching?

I'm sure they have nothing to do with Callahan's situation. Glen is too good to multitask.

The cost to acquire MSL would probably be better used to target a player that isn't pushing 40, if we wanted to go the trade-route.

Same old crap. Rinse. Repeat. Fail. Revamp. Repeat. Refail. When will this franchise ever learn?

Are we a MSL away from being a Cup Contender? No. Then why invest assets that can help tomorrow when we "might" be better suited to compete against the big teams of the league.

Trade Callahan for futures. Or trade assets for players that can help this team for a few years. Love MSL. But this dangerous cycle has gotten stale too many times already and hasn't resulted in anything.

I can't believe how many people here are pro-MSL. Mind-boggling. Shiny new toy syndrome. This franchise is a ****ing embarrassment.
Agreed 100% Please no MSL.

The'yre both extremes...but, St. Louis doesn't put us over the top. Boston, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose, L.A., St. Louis...they're all significantly better than we are. Especially afyer moving parts for St. Louis and still not having a #1 center or offensive defenseman or anything resembling size and grit on the wings.

If you don't think St Louis makes this a better team and gets us closer to those teams this year, I don't know what to tell you.

Everyone is scared of mortgaging our future fact of the mater is we are not trading an Amonte or Weight, we would be trading un-known ahl prospects. Prospects who every seems to agree are part of a weak prospect pool the rangers have?

Teams have won with out grit or size, and AV's system is not predicated on this like Torts was

Just read that Dreger hearing MSL is pushing for a trade here..

Interesting. Because if the price is too high for the Rangers, Stevie Y has no reason to trade him for anything but his asking price. Sather would have to overpay or walk away. But if MSL is pushing for a trade it could make this situation a bit more interesting.

MSL will arrive, realize it's still winter up here, and immediately regret his decision.

Exactly, we'd be better suited putting together a massive package for someone young with potential to be good for 10-15 years, ala Girgensons.

Blow these teams with young, stud prospects out of the water with a deal.

Stepan
Hagelin
Kristo
Allen/McIlrath

That will get any team listening for almost anyone. Move from there, add where needed.

Check prices on guys whos values may have declined slightly this year, such as Grigorenko. Do your due diligence, stop making the "fancy" move for names. That's gotten this team exactly nowhere in the past 20 years.

Like how much closer, certainly they do not leapfrog those who are the current odds on favorites to win the cup. Those teams that already were better than the Rangers who will make moves to add to their teams if they feel it necessary, some that already have.

It's an interesting line to walk for a GM. Getting good value for the player versus potentially keeping him and having to deal with a malcontent in the locker room and on the ice.

Even if players don't want to let that stuff affect their play, it certainly can. If MSL is upset he wasn't traded then his play down the stretch and in the playoffs might not be that great

I just can't wrap my head around why he wants to leave this badly though. I mean he did get to play in the Olympics when it was all said and done.

Both sides want out.

Yzerman wantz this TB team to be Stamkos's, St Louis is the last piece of the old regime to get the boot. Time to move on for both parties involved.

My guesstimate is that if the Rangers cannot bag MSL by 3PM, that they'll keep Callahan as an own-rental. If they can't hammer out a deal before the draft, the Rangers will try again for MSL. If they land Marty at the draft, the PR spin will be "Well, we knew Marty was going to wind up here, so that softens the blow of losing Callahan for nothing."
