No on Miller for MSL and I want MSL alot u all know this.. BUT stevie has no reason to move him now! He WILL be moved here either at the draft or in off season and JT will not have to go back the other way then. Thats the price now bc they are in the playoffs

His NMC is off the table in the offseason. Could end up elsewhere.

Remember Shanahan's stint here? He was really good for his first season. He proceeded to completely fall apart rapidly and then retired. He was roughly the same age as St. Louis.

At that age its risky and guys can rapidly fall apart.

He suffered a major concussion and was never the same after that, it wasn't exactly him just wearing down.

The inclusion of Fast or Lindberg with Callahan does not stop me from trading that package for MSL. If TB throws in Connolly, I'd give up both. I don't part with Miller, McIlrath or Skjei.

I couldn't agree more; my thoughts exactly.

Not a great analogy. You're acting as if MSL is a sure thing. How many times have we seen "proven, top vets" come here and not duplicate their previous success?

But to take your analogy further, if you gave me $20 today and the other guys already have $50, what difference does it make?

Nothing is a sure thing, even that $20 inflation could affect it either way. But you have a much better idea of what you are getting with the $20 then the lottery tickets.

Even if the other guys had $50 the $20 has the better chance of you catching up to them then the lottery tickets

I know Richards's last few years are likely to be poor, but technically if he performs the way he has this season, 6.6 mil is not a bad deal.

"If" we can keep him, which is uncertain with the cap.

Would Miller + St. Louis be an upgrade over Hagelin + Callahan this season? Probably, but it would be an awful misuse of assets.

This franchise is in no position to be moving young pieces for old players.

I can't see Tampa trading St Louis unless the package was damn good. I'd imagine Callahan along with Miller or Fast or Kristo. Maybe Hagelin + one of those prospects and a pick. It might be too much for us to give up at this point, but Sather might say screw it as we are about 5 hours away from do or die time.

He suffered a major concussion and was never the same after that, it wasn't exactly him just wearing down.

He came back from the concussion and produced just fine. His legs started to go in the second half of the second season and thats all she wrote.

I understand your point, and I do want MSL on this team...but basically what you are saying is that you should never draft anyone and always trade your picks and prospects, which is a proven way to gut an organization.

That being said, I wouldn't be against moving Miller specifically, considering I see him as topping out as a bottom 6 grinder.

TSN is ripping on Brodeur right now. Saying basically "he is not good, he thinks he's still good, and no team wants him"

Shipping out a handful of young parts for a 38 year old and a dilusional shot in the dark to win a Cup this year will result in crippling this organization's future for years.

How is a 38 year old who lead the league in scoring a shot in the dark, and mean while the idea of two prospects who aren't even good enough to play in the league now, will one day become studs not?

The other extreme is much much more unlikely. There will be other 20 year olds for you guys to drool over in the next few years, none of which will be a Marty St Louis.

Everyone complains that we have 3 3rd lines, Jesper Fast and Oscar Lindberg will only ad to this. Neither are top end prospects, likely good fillers

Yeah and how hes statistically like the 3rd or 4th worst goalie in the NHL with X amount of starts. They are right. I dont know why any team would trade for him. I really hope he doesnt get moved to Chi or Pit. I dont want him anywhere near a cup run.

as much as i dislike him from a fandom standpoint, im really upset he is choosing to leave NJ like this. a sad ending.

It could work with the cap if we don't trade for marty and don't re-sign Cally (or trade him for a big cap hit), but it would be a bad idea. If he retires during his contract we'd be on the hook for the cap without getting the player.

Cap recapture penalty makes a buyout inevitable.
