How is a 38 year old who lead the league in scoring a shot in the dark, and mean while the idea of two prospects who aren't even good enough to play in the league now, will one day become studs not?

The other extreme is much much more unlikely.

The'yre both extremes...but, St. Louis doesn't put us over the top. Boston, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose, L.A., St. Louis...they're all significantly better than we are. Especially after moving parts for St. Louis and still not having a #1 center or offensive defenseman or anything resembling size and grit on the wings.

Right now, price tag for Martin St. Louis too high for NYR's liking. Deal remains unlikely, unless price comes down.

If Tampa thought keeping MSL put them over the top, they would not be trading him regardless of his request.

#Flames prospects Max Reinhart and Corban knight just walked in the building... first sign that something could be going down w @NHLFlames

I'd love Corban Knight.

His point is Louie Debrusk turned out to be nothing, there are no guarantees with prospects.

Very rarely does a McDonnagh/Gomez deal go in favor of the prospect

Louie Debrusk once held very good value as a prospect. That means something, thats tangible, it helped land us one of if not the most important player this franchise has seen in over 50 years !

as much as i dislike him from a fandom standpoint, im really upset he is choosing to leave NJ like this. a sad ending.

Hey, assets gained by NJ certainly helps them going forward. It's the end for Marty, him leaving for assets is yet another gift that keeps on giving. 20 years he's been an asset to that organization.

I have a feeling we have a MSL-deal incoming. I read that Callys agent gave their "final offer" a couple of hours ago.

I do think MSL is a really good player, but is he worth cally +1st or cally +some of our best prospects? No. I dont think so. Its not worth giving up that much for him when we're not serious contenders anyway. If we were leading the division and had a real chance at the cup, i would do the trade. But at this moment, i would refuse. Not worth it.

The cost to acquire MSL would probably be better used to target a player that isn't pushing 40, if we wanted to go the trade-route.

Same old crap. Rinse. Repeat. Fail. Revamp. Repeat. Refail. When will this franchise ever learn?

Are we a MSL away from being a Cup Contender? No. Then why invest assets that can help tomorrow when we "might" be better suited to compete against the big teams of the league.

Trade Callahan for futures. Or trade assets for players that can help this team for a few years. Love MSL. But this dangerous cycle has gotten stale too many times already and hasn't resulted in anything.

I can't believe how many people here are pro-MSL. Mind-boggling. Shiny new toy syndrome. This franchise is a ****ing embarrassment.

#NYR captain Ryan Callahan is taking part in today's morning skate.

So im assuming Cally will be dealt?? The Rangers cant be negotiating one contract right now. They have too many UFA players on the team to address.
