The cost to acquire MSL would probably be better used to target a player that isn't pushing 40, if we wanted to go the trade-route.

Same old crap. Rinse. Repeat. Fail. Revamp. Repeat. Refail. When will this franchise ever learn?

Are we a MSL away from being a Cup Contender? No. Then why invest assets that can help tomorrow when we "might" be better suited to compete against the big teams of the league.

Trade Callahan for futures. Or trade assets for players that can help this team for a few years. Love MSL. But this dangerous cycle has gotten stale too many times already and hasn't resulted in anything.

I can't believe how many people here are pro-MSL. Mind-boggling. Shiny new toy syndrome. This franchise is a ****ing embarrassment.

I want to disagree with you so bad here. But, quite frankly, I don't want to be dunce capped.

I'd taken Vanek for $7M/6Y over Callyhan @ $7M/6Y

Vanek is a great player when he wants to be, but I worry about having two extremely streaky players like Nash and Vanek as our "go to" scorers.

I agree. Vanek puts some strength into the LW position on this team, and allows Nash to play with another top-line winger. If Stepan can regain form and become a Solid 1B Centerman, or if we are able to pluck another top line centerman (maybe Richards stays, who knows), that top line could actually be scary dangerous, and then Kreider would be able to play on the 2nd line with Step like he is supposed to be...

If we're dropping $6M on Callahan, a 2nd/3rd RW (which is a position that is already deep in depth) I'd rather go another $2M in and get a top-line winger to fill a need that needs fixing. a 3rd line RW is replaceable, no matter who it is, only because he's the THIRD RW ON THE TEAM, not because he is the captain
