For sure, but having MSL would help quite a bit. Have to give to get... I don't watch Hartford that often though, so I might be off in what I'm thinking these guys are worth.

Also don't know if I see a spot for Lindberg next year unless he's the 4C, it's likely Stepan-Brassard-Miller-Boyle/Moore/Lindberg, and I'd like to see Moore resigned if it's a reasonable contract.

Why though, are we going to move young players who will eventually (hopefully) play here (instead of being moved) for someone who is almost 40? Where is the logic in that? I'll venture and say guys like Lindberg and Miller have more years and will contribute more to the squad than MSL at 38, unfortunately. MSL is great, but why do we become devoid of young talent for a 38 year old?

He really doesn't.

Still need a #1 center. He's a RW, our strongest position.

I agree with you that we need a #1 center, of course I do. I don't think we have one. But we have beaten big teams on a good day so if MSL equals many more goals I still mean what I mean. I think he will be a very positive catalyst. :)

Lets agree to disagree.

Even Sather should know we also need a #1 center, or?

If we traded Miller for MSL straight up I'd shoot myself in the face.

18 years older then him!!! Stop this madness. Should not even be a thought.

I'm trying to find a "young player(s)" that would entice Yzerman to make a trade. I see the farm system as pretty bare right now.

Yup. Miller is the only one I can see enticing him at all. I'd be pretty pissed off if they trade him.

Maybe McIlrath has some value?

I dont know - this whole thing is so ****ed up I dont even want to think about it.

I really like Fast and Lindberg. I don't want to trade them for a 38 year old, no matter how great he is.

that's silly. They aren't great prospects, and again, you don't have to overpay Cally. Frees up a lot of valuable cap space.

MSL is old, but the guy is still a complete monster. MONSTER

@***************: Rangers fans not wanting to part with JT Miller .. "He's a star" - Same fan base that cried when they traded Louie Debrusk for Mark Messier

J.T. Miller
Brady Skjei

Those are the two prospects i would absolutely not move...not for St. Louis, anyway.

No problem dealing McIlrath, but not for St. Louis.

I'm getting worried. Sather is an idiot. Watch Hagelin and others go for St. Louis.

As I have said before, the only thing I care about is Cally getting traded. I don't care at all about MSL. If they can get him for a reasonable trade: fine. But if its going to be a massive package; it aint worth it.

If i had to choose between Skjei and McIlrath...it would be Skjei.

TBay has to want a defenseman.

You don't have to overpay Callahan anyhow. Saying "you don't have to overpay a grinder" to convince yourself that a bad trade is a good trade is dumb.

Fast and Lindberg are good prospects. I don't even see why Tampa would want them. They are swimming in forward prospects over there anyway. They should ask for defensemen.

Not sure what the love fest with Lindberg and Fast is. What are these guys projected as 3rd liners? Second liners if the all the stars and moon aligns?

Where do all of you who refuse to trade these guys see them playing on this team in the next two years?

If combined they end up putting up one season in their careers that equals one season of MSL I would be shocked.

Agree completely. Those are my two favorite prospects within our system.

Do not trade. Unless we're getting young, top end center prospect back.

I'd rather not trade any defensemen. Even the prospects.

I'd rather trade no prospects.

Jesus Christ, Messier was also 30 years old and proceeded to play for 7 years with his first stint with the team.

Not to mention, he was an all time great.

Skjei already is, and will be a much better player. I would not move him. Not for 38 year old St. Louis.

: Most Deadline Day trades by active GMs

Glen Sather: 52
Brian Burke: 29
David Poile: 26
George McPhee: 24
Bryan Murray: 19

Wow.

What about John Moore? Tampa has a lot of young, good forwards, but always seems a little needy on D

Trade John Moore, call up Conner Allen...

I like Moore's potential and am not saying give up on him, but I could see the Rangers thinking of him as a piece to move now as he hasn't really taken a step forward yet and AV still doesnt' rely on him for regular minutes if the game is close
