Dubinsky isn't average at all, he's an excellent player who puts up solid points and plays a physical, chippy game, is an on ice leader, all kinds of crap. Dubinsky is a very good player. Not saying I'd redo the Nash trade but Dubinsky is a damn good NHLer and I'd be glad to bring him back

I love Dubi but he's not an excellent player. He's a complimentary 2nd liner, at best.

What the hell has to happen for then to realize he's not going to sign for 6 /36, are they gonna wit until 2 pm tomorrow to make a deal? I hope they are content with dealing him but are just waiting for Vanek to be moved first to open up the market

Maybe he will… or maybe they've already come to that conclusion.

My guess is he either gets signed, or gets moved after Vanek is dealt. He's most likely plan B along with Mouslon for Pitt, SJ, LA, etc…

and he shows emotion, always sticks up for teammates..

i cant remember the last time Callahan did that :help: some leader he is :sarcasm:

Lots of really good stuff in the Brooks article.

http://nypost.com/2014/03/04/trading-day-may-be-here-for-callahan-rangers/

Sather going from 7 years to 6 is a sign that his priority is to retain Callahan (not shocking) but both sides are dug in and feel they have compromised enough.

Stewart was offered straight up for Cally. Columbus had interest, but not as a rental. San Jose, Dallas, Vancouver (long shot) also are rumored destinations.

MSL still wants NY and only NY but it is unlikely it happens before 3PM, from "essentially a standing start."

Several teams have called on Boyle. No surprise there from me.

Oilers want a 2nd for Hemsky. Rangers are reluctant. I read this as they would do a 3rd but thats me speculating (ugh). Could be a fall back if Callahan is moved and the Rangers don't want Miller in his spot for the playoffs.

Callahan is staying at six-years and $39 million while the Rangers are adamant about staying at six years and $36 million. Both sides feel that they have conceded enough already.*(NY Post)

Looks like cally is going to get dealt than

2013-14

55 Games Played

12 G 25 A 37 PTS

Returned to form?

I say, he's been fairly average, because thats what he is, an average hockey player.

You also do the trade for Nash every time over.

Rick Nash, 45 games, 29 points. Doesn't work well with others. Last year he put up good numbers, but sucked in the playoffs. We'll see how he does this year, if we make it.

Dubi is on pace for 55 points. His career high is 54. The biggest problem Dubi had his last year with us was that Richards came in and took a lot of his ice time. He dropped from 20:14 per game to 16:16 per game.

I gotta think sather is already unhappy with that 36 mil number. I think if anyone caves it'll be Callahan

So my predictions for tomorrow:

1. Callahan signs 6 x 6.3, 3 year NMC, 3 year partial NTC

OR

2. Callahan to SJ for 1st, Chris Tierney (may be "too much" but I think there will be a bidding war if he is made 100% available...Sharks window is closing), maybe a roster player like Kennedy (ugh) coming back in the deal.

AND

NYR 2nd to EDM for Hemsky

Boyle possibly dealt too for a 2nd/3rd. I know the two scenarios is not "a prediction." It's impossible to know if the two sides will cave in negotiations from here. Gun to my head I say he signs.

Don't see that. SJ needs D, not another forward. Hemsky is possible if Callahan is moved. Don't see the NYR moving Boyle either.

Nash's linemates can't finish. He has setup Step and Kreider perfectly. There is a reason he only has like 9 assists.

The Rangers are in a no win situation with some fans. You can't sit here and say don't sign Callahan AND then ***** that they haven't trade him yet. Really, if they aren't going to give in to his agent why the hell should they give in to another teams GM.

As currently constructed it's not likely the team is making a cup run but that doesn't mean they should just trade Callahan for anything.

I'm also sick or reading posters complain that if the Rangers trade Callahan before the draft they will only get back a mid round pick. We don't know if that's true or not. The impending free agents are pretty dismal. A team MIGHT be willing to pay more for Callahan before July 5th to ensure they sign him. Teams that aren't in the market for Callahan now (I'm looking at you Florida Buffalo and Edmonton) could be in June. Those teams might see the extra time to negotiate as worth a 2nd round pick and a prospect. EXACTLY what the expected market is for Callahan RIGHT NOW.

I don't know. I think that is a team that is desperate to get over the top. With Hertl hurt, Tommy Wingels is in their top 6. Constantly criticized for lack of heart. I could see it.

With Boyle, I think they would need to be "blown away". I think a 2nd could be in the ballpark. I want him retained but it is what it is.

Post seems to be saying good chance no one blinks so a trade at go down . Ideally vanek goes and teams turn to Cally

Think the time for MSL is after this season. He'll be a free agent after next year and if still determined to come to NY he'll have a lot more leverage. Doesn't mean that TB won't move him elsewhere but he definitely will be just a rental if he makes it known that the Rangers are the team he wants to play for.

Tomorrow looks like D-day for the Rangers and Callahan.

Didn't read entire thread, only to page 15, but am I the only one who keeps repeatedly seeing that Kesler won't waive his clause to come here?

i see cally to Minn, SJ, Dallas, MTL, CLB, Det..

i pray Mr Sather doesn't cave!!! for once your holding your ground..

moulson/Gab to LA

Vanek to Det/Ana

Does anyone else really hope the Rangers claim Cory Conacher? I know, he does nothing to help size but I'd love to try him on the fourth line and let him develop for a year under AV with some PP time. He's an RFA and makes nothing. He has skill. He could be a pain like Ryan Carter was in the playoffs for NJD two years ago.

If there's interest in Boyle, move him, please. Get a 2nd back and it's a huge win.

There's no guarantee the Rangers make the playoffs. They shouldn't be stupid.

If San Jose is interested in Cally, then take back Havlat to get Nieto if possible. I'd rather have Havlat as a throw in than Hemsky and give up a pick.

This is not a rebuild, but a retool.
