The Rangers have been WAY too quiet. Which is a little strange because #1 they have quite a few UFA's going into 2014 and this is not a rebuilding team looking OR a fully stacked team at the top of the food chain; we are somewhere in the middle of that .

Dubinsky isn't average at all, he's an excellent player who puts up solid points and plays a physical, chippy game, is an on ice leader, all kinds of crap. Dubinsky is a very good player. Not saying I'd redo the Nash trade but Dubinsky is a damn good NHLer and I'd be glad to bring him back

This. "Excellent" may be a stretch, but besides the choice of word, I agree with everything here. He's a very good second liner who brings a ton to the ice in addition to his 50 points. He's also been returned to center and is excelling in the faceoff dot, as well as getting back to his production. Besides the one down year before the trade, he's been a very good hockey player.

i see cally to Minn, SJ, Dallas, MTL, CLB, Det..

i pray Mr Sather doesn't cave!!! for once your holding your ground..

moulson/Gab to LA

Vanek to Det/Ana

im guessing something along the lines of Callahan for Zucker and a draft pick or maybe Callahan Boyle one of Kristo or Fast for Coyle Zucker?

I imagine this is what it would feel like to wake up on Christmas with no presents. What a complete let down today has been.

Today was all for show. It becomes obvious all this 'talks all day" crap was just that, as neither side moved an inch. Duh.

It's in the Rangers' interest to have the appearance they are still contemplating & negotiating with Callahan.
That's why they strategically placed their final offer right where he wont accept. Cally's not going to 'cave' $3m worth on a take it or leave it offer. And if he did, the Rangers still stated their objections on a NMC (and if ever there was a time to do so!), so there's too much to overcome. That 'one phonecall can change everything' is more pablum thrown out there for appearances.
They've had a thousand calls for 6 months and they're not there.
Sather's negotiated a zillion contracts. if he wanted this one done, it would be.

Cally already feels he's gone too low, the Rangers (rightly, IMO) feel they've gone way too high, and he's outta here.
Think that was all determined some time ago; which is why Sather likely has deals in his pocket.
And if teams feel they have to up their offer to prevent you signing him, its an edge for the NYR.

They head into tomorrow with an easy 3-4 serious packages they can move and totally bolster the team, should they decide. or, they can nibble. One thing that's working against them a bit is it being such a buyers' market. Man there's a lot of good players available.
But it only takes one team to make a trade.
Or 3 to make 3 trades LOL.

Kind of. I don't mind him not being moved yet; many players still to go tomorrow, for sure. But it would be nice to have some closure, especially considering Glen had supposedly set a deadline for negotiations. Apparently his Alzheimer's kicked in and he forgot about it. Just want to know if they're closer, still pursuing it or have broken off talks. Oh well. Not long now before everything is resolved.

if they dont do a trade tomorrow wut is this guy doing with the franchise, all the contending teams are adding players to their roster making them even better as were doing nothing so we can lose in the 2nd round again this year

I'd love for you to be right.

So my predictions for tomorrow:
1. Callahan signs 6 x 6.3, 3 year NMC, 3 year partial NTC

OR

2. Callahan to SJ for 1st, Chris Tierney (may be "too much" but I think there will be a bidding war if he is made 100% available...Sharks window is closing), maybe a roster player like Kennedy (ugh) coming back in the deal.

AND

NYR 2nd to EDM for Hemsky

Boyle possibly dealt too for a 2nd/3rd. I know the two scenarios is not "a prediction." It's impossible to know if the two sides will cave in negotiations from here. Gun to my head I say he signs.

According to Larry Brooks, Dallas has been one of the teams following the NYR.

1. Cally signs for 6 x 6.3, 3 year NMC, 3 year partial NTC

OR

2. Cally to Dallas for Brett Ritchie and 2nd.

Dallas is currently holding the last WILD CARD spot in the West at 68 pts.

Any thoughts?

Dubinsky is a good penalty killer, hard on the forecheck, and excellent at winning face offs. He does a lot more than score goals.

Thoughts? No chance of getting Ritchie for a UFA.

You haven't been around very long but you are already becoming one of my favorite posters. I surely hope you are correct.

I agree with this post and sir I hope you are spot on because that would be right move for the Rangers.
