If cally is re-signed, Brad R better be bought out. I cant believe we could have so much money tied up in such mediocre talent.

If Carolina are trading Eric, let alone both of the brothers, it will either be in four years or for studs we don't have.

Of course I'd rather have Eric than Stastny if we can get him for like...Stepan and a first, or something. But that's a player other teams will want, and the Canes also try to build good teams and win hockey games.

carolina is rumored to want to cut salary. eric staal is owed 18.75m over the next 2 seasons.

Despite my previous post about him, I'd probably rather have Eric than Statsny lol. Assuming Paul gets like 7.5 on the open market.

What are the odds we could move Stepan (pick or prospect) for Stastny with a prearranged extension...

Then flip Hagelin, Kristo, Callahan to Tampa... I know some are keen on keeping Hag's, but just throwing it out there. Could also flip the destination of Cally to Colorado, but I think they're looking for a young centerman in any Stastny deal..

We could definitely do all that because it's all bad ideas.

If Carolina is cutting salary, it isn't going to be Staal.

Now, if you can get Semin at an affordable rate, that's another matter.

Agree. Carolina isn't trading the Staal brothers who are their main draw. Ruutu and Semin get moved first. I may be in the minority, but I would give up a decent package to land Semin of Carolina retained 20% or so of the cap hit.

No to Eric Staal. The man's cap hit out-grosses several small nations.

Eh.... but it's only for 2 more years after this one.

If Sather is gonna give 7 years at 7 million to Stastny, I'll take Staal for the next 2 at 9 million, with the likelihood that you can resign him after that for probably 6.

Why would they want to?

I think some fans need to see a trade. You and I both know that if it's 1:00 tomorrow and the Rangers haven't done anything people will be climbing the virtual walls of this board.

We both know the same posters who have been preaching the Rangers should rebuild for the past million trade threads will be crying that the team isn't doing anything to improve for the playoff run.

“the price is still too high in the moment but this is a negotiation that seems to be changing by the hour. There is going to be on-going dialogue between the Rangers and Stephen Bartlett who represents Ryan Callahan but the Rangers are still open to pretty much every single option. Could they negotiate an extension and keep him as captain of the Rangers, yes they can do that. Could they find a suitable trade partner and trade him by the trade deadline, yes they could do that. As I said, there is nothing imminent on that front and they will pursue every option available.*(Darren Dreger)

Excuse my innocence here, I know Richards is actually one of our points leaders this season but doesn't it spell incredibly bad things that he's "such mediocre talent" to everyone? Can someone please explain this.
