Jordan Staal sounds kind of enticing. Imagine a center line up of Stepan-Staal-Miller? That's pretty damn solid.

Probably would cost too much though.

The Rangers and Ryan Callahan have been talking all day but there is no deal imminent for Callahan.*(ESPN NY)

This is probably how the conversation has gone.

Callahan "6 years 6.3M per"
Sather "Lol screw off"

Callahan "6.2"
Sather "No, NO, NO, NO"

Callahan "6.1"
Sather "do you understand the word No?"

*tomorrow's negotiations*
Callahan.. fine, my final offer, 6 years 7M per.
Sather "now thats more your value to us, Dolan will love that you will continue to help sell tickets instead of bring back a cup, where do we sign"?

I don't think Stepan or Staal are first line center worthy. Stepan is really good 2C and Staal is a 2C/3C depending on the team.

I dont get PIttsburgh with going for Kesler.. thats not their need.

if Pitt was going all in, they should have traded for Ryan Miller.

Just got this text from a knowledgeable source to describe the Canes efforts right now before the deadline: 'Liquidation.'

Yes, and before people mention Boston, Krejci and Bergeron are both a lot better than Stepan and Staal.

I don't want to trade Miller for Staal either. I really like Miller. If he had taken the conventional route and played his 19YO season in the CHL instead of the A, and this were his first pro season, people would be going crazy over him. But since he was underwhelming in the NHL last year, people have kind of brushed him to the side.

Why do I get the feeling Callahan will be a Ranger tomorrow after the deadline with no contract resolution..

Isn't Jordan Staal primarily a defensive center? I'm not sure that's what we should be looking for with Stepan on the team already. A playmaking center is more of a need, especially if Richards gets bought out.

He would mainly be Sid's wing, a great fit, and play C on the PK and protecting a lead. Move him around the lineup as needed. It's a good fit, IMO, that makes them a lot better.

Stepan, Brassard, Stralman, Allen, 1st - Staal bros.

Kreider-Staal-Nash

Can't believe people actually want Jordan Staal and his contract here and would give up Stepan to get him.

Remember when people were pissed we drafted Stepan over Jared Staal? Would be nice (ie: horrific and terrifying) symmetry if it happened.
