I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
My point is the "just get something for him" argument is flawed. There is value to keeping him for a playoff run. If that value is greater than what's being offered, then I'm not sure there's reason to deal him.
so many people are so afraid to let him go for nothing.. with the ""its better to get something than nothing" thinking.. The Rangers letting him go and not signing him is basically trading him for 6M of cap space to replace said player with in the off season.
