I think I could use a drink guys. Anyone else has a stress level of 9.9?

No. I have already accepted the fact that Callahan will be a Ranger after 3 tomorrow. This contract ******** will continue until he inevitably walks and we get nothing for him.

Yes, and before people mention Boston, Krejci and Bergeron are both a lot better than Stepan and Staal.

I don't want to trade Miller for Staal either. I really like Miller.

Same here, I wouldn't do that deal. I think Miller is going to be a real gem, I think he will develop in to someone like Ryan Kesler (younger healthier version)

Why do I get the feeling Callahan will be a Ranger tomorrow after the deadline with no contract resolution..

If it means not extending him to the deals we've heard I'm fine with it. Would be great to get somethinnnnnnnnnnnng

My head is going to explode

Milbury reaction to Luongo trade - "Whatever takes the focus away from literally anything I did as GM is good enough for me."

Can't believe people actually want Jordan Staal and his contract here and would give up Stepan to get him.

Remember when people were pissed we drafted Stepan over Jared Staal? Would be nice (ie: horrific and terrifying) symmetry if it happened.
Jared was picked two picked before. So no.

I refreshed the page twice and got 503 errors. Refreshed again and was disappointed to find out that no trades had happened.

I wonder if Carolina will trade Eric Staal. Face of their franchise. Humangous beeg cap hit.

Let's hope Callahan's agent messes up and doesn't see the missing 0 from the $6MM and by accidentally signs for $600,000.

Isn't Jordan Staal primarily a defensive center? I'm not sure that's what we should be looking for with Stepan on the team already. A playmaking center is more of a need, especially if Richards gets bought out.

Steps' playmaking ability isn't the issue. His skating, strength and face offs are. We need a better skater who can actually win face offs to center the first line. Stepan has never been over 50% in his NHL career.

You were clamoring for my outside the box thoughts.....

Wasn't really a thought, nor was I clamoring (more so curious). You just merely stated what you think would have to go the other way for J. Staal. I was simply giving my opinion as to why trading Stepan, who on an off year is close to matching J. Staals best year of production, would be a bad move.

Trading big assets for J. Staal who is on a ten year contract is cool and good but picking up a better player in Stastny as a UFA for a higher AAV and a term that is not ten years is bad because UFAs are scary I guess

Because there's another factor that isn't being discussed: what is Callahan's value to the Rangers for a playoff run vs what they're being offered.

It won't be a hockey trade that's for sure.

He's going to go as a rental if he goes. The Blues traded Stewart already, there isn't another contender that will make a move like that.

so much this.. I'll take Stastny for 7 years with no assets required over Staal for almost 10 years with assets required.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

My point is the "just get something for him" argument is flawed. There is value to keeping him for a playoff run. If that value is greater than what's being offered, then I'm not sure there's reason to deal him.
