Wow, and I guess cally is worth 6m too right?

Cally is barely worth 5 IMO. Idk what's with the Kesler love. He's always injured and his play has fallen off a cliff from 2011. Stepan is young and certainly has potential. He's also healthy.

just like many don't see the infatuation with Kesler, not sure why so many people are intrigued with Jordan Staal who's been a 3rd center his whole career (even now that he's out of the shadows of Crosby and Malkin) who comes with a 6M cap hit til freaking 2023

Ooof? That's less than what some people are looking to give up for Kesler.

Yeah, I have no idea why Kesler's price tag is so high when you factor the injuries and that you only have him for 2 more years (5M/2Y) after this. With Staal (6M/9Y) you have him locked up throughout his prime. Also remember, Ryan is 29 and Staal is I think 25 or 26.

Staal's really good though, I think he's an elite 2nd line center.

Kesler seems washed up to me.

At least Staal is an asset that is locked in long term and though his production is lacking, can slot into the second line, give value as a shutdown player and PK guy and still may find his scoring a bit more since he's quite young. Definitely a better option than the rest. On the other hand if his last name wasn't Staal people would be less interested. Love his size though.

Stepan is better now than Kesler.

Last year, it wasn't even close. Plus he's much younger and makes his linemates better.

Oof. Probably a solid A prospect, a B prospect and a high pick. That is if you don't have immediate talent to help them.

Really? Not saying you are miles off, but at stage in his career does his price go from being about potential to being about results? 25 year old with 1 50pt season to his name (yeah I know about the injuries) having a pretty averave year locked in at $6m. I'd kick the tyres but not for that kind of package.

Brassard, middle rnd pick, prospect maybe? Canes get a cheaper c and some peices for the future

To be honest, I would only take Staal for a B prospect and a middle pick. I think his contract is way too long for my liking.

Fair enough, love His style of play speed, skill, grit has it all. If he goes to Pitt it will suck bad for us.

Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin and the 8th pick in the draft.

Miller, Skjei, and a 1st sounds about right. Later first to account for a subpar year this year.

Don't think I do that. It's tough.

Step, Brassard, J Staal is good enough C depth because they fill roles so well.
