Luongo probably thought anything but Vancouver.

Also:

Per Renaud Lavoie.

and to be honest - I had lunch at the table next to his at Gaston's Tavern in Disney this summer

totally random but the dude seemed like a great Dad and his little girls were adorable....kept making him get up to take them to the bathroom - honestly felt for the guy for a few minutes

Also seems like thats terrible value for Vancouver.

At least you've consistently overstated Callahan's trade value.

Again, I prefer to be optimistic. If you like to view the world through a murky lens every day, that's your prerogative.

So. Sather supposedly set a 24 hour deadline. That was just over two hours ago and it's been a couple of hours since we last heard something.

Maybe he actually killed the negotiations and started working on a trade? Or am I just a fool for thinking he actually would do something like that?

I think Sather just woke up from his afternoon-to-evening-to-possibly-beyond-that just now, so I wouldn't bank on anything yet.

I don't think he's trading Callahan. He wants to win now, losing Callahan hurts the team, and it doesn't appear that he has much value in a trade to begin with.

Yeah it was a negotiation deadline.

Essentially if he's traded he probably kept his word. He didn't have to trade him by then.

Did he set that deadline before Callahan came down from 7 years to 6 years?

Subcontext of the day is: It really seems to be a buyer's market this year. Lots of guys going for non-value. Mid draft-picks and such.

Maybe Kesler/St. Louis can be had for cheaper than we think? Maybe the offers Sather is entertaining come with nothing but a middling prospect and a mid-pick? Who knows.

Just don't re-sign him. Keep him and let him walk if you have to, but DO NOT re-sign.

Can the Rangers afford to keep Callahan this year and trade for MSL and Kesler ... financially speaking?

What does Cally do for us? He's not scoring. Before his injury Zucc had taken his pp and pk spots. Hell AV has played Nash in the pk over Cally. Cally's role and importance has been drastically reduced under AV. He plays torts hockey. He doesn't fit this system very well and he is clearly struggling.

I guess you enjoy being perpetually disappointed when your optimism falls flat in the real world.

The only time I've been disappointed was when we traded Tyutin and signed Redden instead of Orpik. That was a personal tie that kept him there. My logic didn't fail. He was nearly a Ranger.

I prepared for what we'd have to give up for Nash. Dubi, Erixon, 1st, thought another prospect would go instead of Arty but even that made sense to me. Hefty price but that's what I thought it would take.

Nothing has happened yet. If my price is overstated i'll own up, admit my optimism wasn't realistic, and probably join the rest of the board in disappointment. You're counting your chickens before they hatch.
