like it or not, the guy did it to himself....i LOVED him as a player, until these demands. We all loved him as a TEAM first guy - thats why it hurts so much to see him doing the complete opposite. He has earned the right - but I think collectively as a fan base - we expected him to put the needs of the team first...

Sorry this isn't the most appropriate question but I'm trying to do some research and find out if Gaborik has ever played LW and how much, as he's likely LA bound. I found some things about him starting last year on LW. How long did that last? Was he at all effective that comparatively speaking to him on RW? Or is he much better on the right side?

He blew on the left and overall he is not the player he was.

Looked horribly out of place on LW.

Don't do it. He's a RW through and through.

If so collectively as a fan base - we are idiots.

We can't expect him to take a discount to sign here. We can't expect him to sign a 30 million deal here, when he can likely get a 45 million deal in fa.

The Rangers shouldn't match his demands and they shouldn't have offered what they reportedly did, but the fans shouldn't resent Cally for wanting to get paid. He has given his all and basically sacrificed his body and health for this franchise. He's about to sign his final contract.

It's going to suck seeing him in another uniform, but not as much as seeing the Rangers give him a 6x6 contract with a NMC.

Definitely a RW. LW didn't work here.

He's clearly better on the right side. He also is a very different player from what he once was. His shoulder injuries has cost him the shot power he used to have, and he lost his foot speed to knee injuries. I wouldn't go after him.
 
Curious what the market for a guy like Penner is. If it was Erat, I bet that detail would've leaked by now... I only say that because Penner for Erat is a deal I could see being made :dunno:

I wonder how much resentment we as fans would have for Cally if he asked for what he did, knew he could get it elsewhere, but we KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that our GM wouldn't give it to him?

I wonder if the sentiment would be "Best of luck to you Cally" instead of "How dare you ask for that?!?!"

I guess what I'm thinking is, he's sort of become a lightning rod for our lack of faith in our Mgmnt.

this is the problem - we did - because that's who he portrayed himself as - a guy that wants to win as a team as opposed to get his $ - countless starts in this league have taken discounts to make sure their team has to $ to be a winner and Cally wont....again - his call and he earned the right to do that....just not what any of us expected and in a way - I would be the feeling that most fans have toward him right now is betrayed

He hasn't been a difference maker in 1 game this season. 1 game. And to make matters worse it looks like he's deliberately doing that not as a sign of regression but in an attempt to preserve his body for a higher contract.

He's not selling out. He's not forechecking hard. He's not hitting hard. He hasn't fought once this year.

He led by example. Now he's trying to cripple the team he is supposed to lead. It's easy to see why fans are turning on him.

I think you're living in an alternate reality with this drivel.

Perhaps its his cut ice-time and lack of PP time thats creating that illusion in your mind.

Reason not to sign him to this deal. Not reason to blast him as an ineffective player in every game this season. Thats just nonsense.
