Does any1 have even the faintest clue what kinds of offers are on the table for Callahan? Aside from Stewart awhile back I've heard nothing. Also understanding that Callahan isn't worth a 6x6.5 contract or even a 6x6 contract and joking about letting him go does not equal having zero gratitude whatsoever. And Sere was right when he said they are doing this for the money way more than they are for the jersey/logo so they really DON'T deserve too much gratitude. They definitely don't deserve the kind of gratitude that would engender blind fan loyalty on a very high risk contract with little to no upside other than bs MSG prestige

Honestly I'd be happy to move him for a 2nd round pick at this point. Anything but signing him to a long term crippling contract. We need to get away from those.

Why would anyone say "Gomez on waivers HAHA..." lame...

Guy makes under $1M, and even when he made $7.5M with us, he did NOTHING for us to dislike him in the least... not that I care too much, just sort of lame...

I interpreted that as laughing at Montreal

hagelin and stralman for vatanen and a pick

callahan for nieto and a pick

that's what i'm hoping for

In this sort of instance, I'd rather keep Cally for the remainder of the year than deal him for a 2nd. There is a certain threshold in value where keeping Cally is better for us than trading him just to trade him. This is all based on (IF AND ONLY IF) it is a known fact that Callahan will not re-sign at the end of the year.

If the options are simply only trade or re-sign Callahan, then I'm up for the trade 10 out of 10 times.

I hear you...could be nice to take one last run with the gang. But I worry that the longer he sticks around the more likely a new deal gets worked out. So with that in mind I'm leaning towards sending him packing.

Hearing @AnaheimDucks Fasth,Penner could be on the move.

would not mind Dustin Penner at a decent price

Iginla's line yesterday killed us. Absolutely killed us.

They worked the boards. Shot the puck from everywhere. They just wanted it more.

That's the energy Cally should bring. Where has it been? Hags too. Poo ****ing brings more intensity than both of them.

If he's paid, watch him flip a switch. Unreal how a player holding out can really affect a team.

I do wonder if this whole trade rumor thing is effecting him mentally.

I like Weekes as a broadcaster. I wonder how viable his sources are.

I got into a "Twitter fight" with him once though. He tweeted something along the lines of how he was there to help out Hank and how he won big games down the stretch for the Rangers in 05-06. I was like, Weekes, you lost your last six starts that year, what are you talking about?

Then we got into it for a bit. It was a lot of fun

So sad to see all the "Trade Cally now!" posts. I mean I understand it, and under the proposed terms I agree with the sentiment...it's just hard to believe that it has come to this. I hate every bit of it.

The Canadian dollar began the season at 96 cents. It was 94 when the Rogers deal was announced. Its been the 89-90 cents range for the last few weeks. The famous economist Dr. Doom Roubini feels the CDN should be 10% lower than 90 cents. The NHL sees a major % of the revenue come from Canada. Ticket revenue. Those 7 teams generate a ton of revenue. Even if the NHL protected themselves with the Rogers deal, they will feel the pinch of the CDN in other revenue streams with the exchange rate being 90 cents or lower in the future.

Canadian teams amount to 1/3 of HRR by roughly reported numbers.

From 96 cents to 90 cents is a 6.25 percent drop. The math is easy.

71m cap - (71 * 1/3 * 0.062) = 69.55m cap

When the NHL released the 71m number, did they really calculate on the loonie going 96 cents on the USD for the entire year? What do I know, but it seems a bit suprising.

If the loonie falls to 81 cent on the dollar, add another couple of million off the cap...

And if he does sign, there will be an underlying resentment for most of his tenure here.

Oh, how things have changed.

Do you blame people?

He put himself in this position? His energy (or lack there of) has really hurt the team on some games. He used to be a difference maker. He hasn't been a difference maker in 1 game this season. 1 game. And to make matters worse it looks like he's deliberately doing that not as a sign of regression but in an attempt to preserve his body for a higher contract.

He's not selling out. He's not forechecking hard. He's not hitting hard. He hasn't fought once this year.

He led by example. Now he's trying to cripple the team he is supposed to lead. It's easy to see why fans are turning on him.
